Programs for network analysis between PCs and diagnostics of connectivity problems

Network troubleshooting can be one of the most frustrating tasks you face when you find yourself with a new internet connection that doesn't work.
In other articles we saw how it is possible to scan the internal network by explaining some basic concepts and then we went into more technical topics indicating how to configure a wireless router.
On another page there are theoretical and practical tips for solving network connection problems and for sharing internet, files and printers.
Read another article if there are internet connection problems to browse the websites .
In this article, however, we see some software and small tools to monitor the network, both wifi and LAN cable, and your internet connection to check that everything is ok and that everything is working properly.

Unfortunately when there are network problems and the PC does not surf the web as it should, the reasons are terribly mysterious and certainly the support of the diagnostic tools included in Windows are completely useless and do not help solve.
In general, once you have bought the modem or after configuring a router, with the simple wizard that is read in the instructions, the Windows PC should go on the network without having to do anything in particular; if he does not go, he finds himself like fools without knowing which levers to touch or what to change. The problems can then be partial, that is, you can surf the internet but the reception of data and the opening of the pages is very slow, Emule does not download (but that could be the fault of the provider) or, worse, you do not access the network Torrent (that would be serious). The tools that we will see in this post are free and free, simple, so much so that they can be used by everyone to solve internet problems at home . They can certainly also be considered by professionals and network technicians as preliminary verification tools .
As for the understanding of the verification results, since they are also in English (in Italian there are no software of this type), I recommend to search Google for the indicated terms.
1) Fing is perhaps the best software on this list because it does network control and monitoring, scanning of external peripherals and other computers connected in the subnet and contains a series of functions capable of performing diagnostic and troubleshooting operations for analysis . This tool is easy to use but is also used by network administrators in companies and works for all computers, both Linux, Mac OS and Windows, and for Android and iPhone smartphones . The analysis is very thorough and checks the network and internet connection going into detail. You may notice that the program also checks the DNS, i.e. the correct resolution of the names of the Internet addresses, the ports of the applications open and reachable from the outside, the TCP / IP protocol, and as seen from outside, when browsing Internet.
2) Networx is one of the programs to control the consumption of internet traffic and is used to monitor the network and bandwidth of each individual computer process in real time. It comes with the ability to control a network of computers connected to each other and notify the system administrator if the services or programs are not accessible. Controlling your PC with this tool can allow you to derive data which can then be referred to the support call center of the company that gives us the internet, so as not to be unwary. The use is simple but you need to know some notion of network to understand what the tool is for, otherwise it really seems to read Arabic. The user must enter the names or, better, the IP addresses of the computers that are part of the network and the program checks the services, including internet connectivity.
3) InSSIDer is an open source program for solving problems and for configuring and optimizing the wireless network. The tool is visual, it discovers all the nearby networks, those that take and shows the graphs on the strength and radius of the radio, that is, the wifi connection, the signal strength and the network performance, all in real time.
4) Network Miner does a network scan, analyzes the packets that come in and out and captures all the data that can be recovered on nearby hosts. It does an excellent scan job and lets you know more about the computers that are part of the same subnet where you are, thus also finding information about the router and neighbors.
Network Miner only works after installing the WinPCap program.
5) Network Balancer is a program used to prioritize processes in the use of network bandwidth and we talked about it in another post.
6) Microsoft Network Monitor is a network protocol analyzer that captures network traffic and provides access to functions that allow you to analyze it.
The application gives you access to all the options available for a network card and lists all the applications and processes that cause internet traffic.
The capture process starts by clicking on the Start button.
7) Curr Ports is used to check and control the network connections active in real time, the incoming and outgoing ones, with IP address, protocol, process and port used.
8) Heatmapper and The Dude allow you to draw the signal map of the wireless network
9) eToolz contains various tools for checking networks, emails and websites .
10) Sparta is a great program for network analysis and security verification against hacker attacks.
This easy-to-use tool simplifies network infrastructure penetration tests, scans vulnerabilities on a network, and attempts to remotely run scripts on detected computers.
Finally, remember that you can calculate your internet browsing speed and that there are some other small programs and tips to optimize the TCP / IP protocol to go and download faster.
