The most important part of Facebook is the News Feed, ie the flow of news that appears when you go to the "Home" page and when you open the application on your smartphone. As is well known, the news is ordered by Facebook not in a chronological way, but in order of importance assigned in a personalized way through an algorithm. With a lot of simplification we could say that the first news you see in the flow are those coming from friends with whom we interact more and those published by people to whom we comment more often or do " like ".
In reality, then, this algorithm, which is like a secret recipe, is influenced by every little personal action that is done on Facebook, where everything is monitored and recorded to determine and create a profile of preferences.
While in some cases, especially for those with few friends, the algorithm works well, for many the Facebook home is infested with uninteresting things, perhaps from people we hardly care about. Fortunately, Facebook has made it much easier to configure the order of news to be displayed than before and allows you to choose, with a guided tool, which friends and which types of news must have more prominence and appear earlier than others.
This tool is found both on the Facebook app for Android and iOS and on the site and is accessible from the settings button at the top right with the down arrow and then going to " News section preferences " and opens a very guided procedure. comfortable and not as boring as one might expect.
First of all, you can decide who the people and pages are to see the news first.
then click on the names or photos to bring up the word "Show first".
In the second step, however, you can exclude people whose news you don't want to read, so that their posts do not appear.
The third phase serves instead to control the people who no longer follow each other, but who are still our friends, in order to eventually re-include them in our news flow. Finally, you can receive suggestions of pages to follow based on our interests. At the end, you can press the End key to confirm your choices.
From now on, you can always exclude other uninteresting people or pages from our news flow .
If we notice that a friend has started to publish a type of news that we don't really like to read, when one is found in the Facebook news, you can press the button at the top right of the post box to find the " do not follow " option. more ".
Always from the same menu, you can also click on Other options to have a different possibility, that is, not to stop following the person but the page or application from which the shared news was taken.
For example, if a friend publishes news from newspapers such as the hoax courier, you can choose to stop following this friend or, simply, to make sure that all the news shared by the hoax courier is no longer present in our order. news. In this way the relationship with the friend is not canceled and it is ensured that if other friends also share news from that newspaper, they will always remain hidden.
Finally, on the Facebook site you can click the button with three dots which appears by moving the mouse to the left on the word News to choose whether to display "Main news" or the most recent . If you choose to see the most recent ones, Facebook is asked not to use its algorithm anymore and to sort the news in chronological order, based on the date of publication of the posts, without distinction of interest. Even with the chronological order of news, however, unrequited friends will not appear in the news flow.
