Snow falling on the desktop of the Windows PC

Updated 5.12.13
In this new appointment in the column: " how much I like to use the computer to do useless things ", in this article we will see how to add the "snow falling from above" effect on the desktop .
It is an animated effect that allows you to view a snowfall on the computer background, adjustable and customizable, which remains in over-impression, without giving any nuisance.
In winter in general and in December, seeing the snow on the computer monitor recalls the Christmas atmosphere and is one of the best ways to decorate your Windows PC for the holidays.
There are often a bit strange programs out there that can carry viruses, especially when it comes to applying graphic effects to your computer background or when downloading screensavers or animated effects.
So I want to immediately reassure you that the very small executable program that adds the animated snowfall effect on the desktop does not require installation, it is very light, it has no hidden advertisements and does not contain any viruses inside.
DesktopSnowOK can transform the Windows desktop in one click and bring winter into your computer, with no difficulty of use.
It is not a screensaver, therefore it does not activate only if the PC remains inactive for a few minutes, but it works continuously, letting the snow fall, in a personalized way.
Furthermore, it is not an interactive animated effect, that is, it interacts with the clicks and movements of the mouse, and does not give any discomfort, however giving a pleasant effect of movement on the screen.
DesktopSnowOK is a very small 52 KB software downloadable from SoftwareOK.com, which works on any Windows PC, both old (Windows XP) and new (Windows 7/8).
As easy as it is to use, as this type of program appeals to everyone, both computer experts and the most incapable, the configuration interface is also in Italian .
Then click the Download link (56 Kb) at the top to download the DesktopSnowOK.zip file which must be extracted with a program such as Winzip or 7Zip or, if you are using Windows 7, simply by right-clicking on the file choosing the "Extract all" option ".
From the extraction folder, you can launch the DesktopSnowOK file to start the snowfall on the screen .
In the initial window, while the snow is already starting to fall from above, you can set the Italian language by clicking on the LNG button, at the bottom.
As you can see, you can adjust:
- the size and consistency of the falling snowflakes, to see them bigger or smaller;
- transparency to make the flakes more or less visible;
- The speed, to choose a slow snowfall or a blizzard;
- Among the images of the falling bow you can choose whether to see falling stars, snow crystals, asterisks, colored balls or normal snow.
The last option, " Deactivation ", allows you to choose whether to display the snow that falls on the desktop always or only when the mouse is stationary or if you write with the keyboard.
If you like this program and want to always keep it active, you can put the cross on the Start with Windows option.
By pressing on the X, the configuration window is closed and you can work on the computer and surf the internet, letting the flakes fall continuously and regularly.
To reopen the configuration window, you can press the snow asterisk icon at the bottom right, near the clock.
To close the program permanently, press the " Exit " button at the bottom.
Desktop Snow can be left running without having performance problems on your computer since it is a very light program with minimal memory consumption.
It can also be seen on the Google Chrome browser by installing the Google Santa Tracker extension which is used to follow Santa Claus online.
In addition to the snow, it is also possible to display Christmas trees and Christmas backgrounds on the PC desktop through other programs indicated in another article.
