Hide a networked PC from hackers by blocking ping

Returning to the article on the small hints of internet network configurations and how to scan internal LAN networks, in this article we see a way to hide your PC within the subnet to which your IP belongs and therefore not be found from any scans.
When there are problems connecting to a computer on a network, the first thing to do is to ping the computer .
Ping is a command used to check whether a particular host (a pc, a router or a site) is reachable through the IP network.
Ping is also used for automatic testing of the computer's network interface card, or for checking speed.
It works by sending a request called " ICMP " and sending packets with the sole aim of stimulating the reception of a reply.
READ FIRST: How to surf online safely
To try the Ping command, just go to Start -> run, write cmd and, on the window that opens, write, for example, ping www.navigaweb.net and, if this site is online, you get an answer.
If you go to see the parameters used by the PC to access the internet, pressing the right mouse button on the two computers (one only in the case of Wireless) that are located at the bottom right of the screen and you choose " Status ", we can know the Gateway through which the PC exits the network (Click on the " Support " tab).
For example, if this has an IP address of 192.168.1.1 and we return to the black DOS window to write " ping 192.168.1.1 ", again, we will get a response while, by pinging 192.168.134.23, presumably, the packets sent will be lost because the host does not exist or is unreachable.
If it is now a little clearer what Ping is all about, you can understand how it is a very important and fast tool used by network administrators of companies, offices and homes with more than one computer.
At the same time, sending a Ping is the first weapon used by hackers to find potential victims on the Internet.
By pinging a specific IP address and receiving a response from an IP address, a hacker is able to determine that there may be something interesting and unprotected.
Since there are programs that ping entire classes of ip and can discover all reachable hosts in a short time, it may be useful, in some cases, to configure your computer to block this response, it should increase the level of security for the PC.
We are not anonymous, we do not hide from the net, we simply remain silent at the most common and used type of call, thus giving the impression of not existing.
Some routers are already configured not to respond to an ICMP ping, some firewalls, such as those seen in the article of the best firewalls, block the replies to the ping by default but, if this were not the case, I think a small tool that disables and can be useful enable ping in one click .
Blocking replies to ping requests on a computer can be done in several ways, but to avoid too long and somewhat laborious procedures, it is certainly worth using the program, firewall, Plax network Suite .
This program is as simple as it is effective because it provides full control of computer internet activities .
Its functions in one click are:
or disable Windows Firewall (first icon from left)
Block internet traffic totally (the blue padlock)
Block replies to pings (yellow padlock).
It also shows the connections open by all running programs, the IP to which they connect, the open port on the PC, the remote port and the names of the active processes.
This list is also visible from Dos by writing the netstat -an command but, in this case, there are no process names.
Finally, the last function allows you to check, on a specific IP address, whether a port is active or not.
I remember that the ports, very simply said, are numbers that make up the network address of a software; for example, port 80 is the one used by the services behind the websites.
For example, you can try writing on the dos window: " telnet www.navigaweb.net 80 ", without quotes, and you will see that the web application that is on the server on which this site resides is active on that port.
The telnet command is often used to check whether a port is open or not.
Better yet, you can use the Glasswire program to check and protect your computer's internet connection
