Microsoft Office with the classic menu

A long time has passed since the release of Office 2007, then Office 2010 which made significant changes and big changes compared to Office 2003, displacing some, indeed many users. Obviously in later versions, Officer 2013 and Office 2016 that "Ribbon" menu has been kept. Two were the most significant and notable "improvements" of Microsoft Office 2007 which remained in Microsoft Office 2010 and later versions: the graphical interface of the top menu and the file format with which documents, tables and powerpoint presentations are saved.
This second feature has sent many people into crisis because, after many years, Word, Excel and Powerpoint files are saved with the docx, xlsx and pptx formats instead of doc, xls and ppt.
For those who use previous versions but receive Office 2007-2010 files, we have seen in another article, how to open docx, xlsx and pptx files with Office 2003.
In this article, however, we report two small similar programs that bring the Office 2003 menu back to Office 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 .
Perhaps preferred out of habit or perhaps because it is considered more comfortable, the Office 2003 interface is the one in which the items are listed in a row and clicking on them opens drop-down menus.
Who does not like the interface of the ribbon, can use the Ribbon Disabler program, free, an application that does not require installation and can be run from any position, which allows you to disable the ribbon and restore the old classic Office menu . Ribbon Disabler worked well when testing on a Windows 10 system and supports all versions of Windows that start with Windows 8.
If you don't like the classic menu, you can deactivate it from the program interface, which contains only two keys, one to enable it, one to disable it.
Another free program is UbitMenu, which adds a menu bar on Word, Excel and Powerpoint, identical to that of the Office 2003 versions with the keys "File", "Edit", "View", "Insert", "Format", "Tools" and so on. In this way, the user can easily choose which of the two interfaces to use and there are no negative impacts on the performance of the program or graphic stains. UbitMenu aims to alleviate the impact with the new Office which offers many more functions with a decided graphic renewal, perhaps not welcome.
In fact, by installing UbitMenu you add a button or tab on Office 2013 and Office 2016, clicking which opens the old classic menu that you have always been used to seeing and on which many have learned the use of Office programs . For those who used keyboard shortcuts, especially for Excel, this tool brings back the old Excel 2003 hotkeys.
Alternatively, you can also try a similar program called Classic Menu for Office 2013, 2010 and 2007
