Better to turn off the PC or put it in standby (suspension)?

When you have to shut down your PC, you take the "Shutdown" option for granted, which is what causes your computer to shutdown completely.
Not everyone knows that, however, it is possible to use another option to turn off the computer, namely that of suspending.
Although in general the suspension still causes minimal electricity consumption (especially if it remains in that state for a long time), some argue that turning on and off a computer too many times can damage hardware components and decrease their overall life.
Whether it is better to shutdown the PC to shut it down completely or whether to use the Hibernate option to put it on standby still remains a lively debate in the expert forums and I, honestly, would not be able to give a clear indication of one or the other choice.
But what we can do is to look at the advantages and disadvantages of both options, in order to have all the data to be used to make an opinion on the matter and then choose to turn off or suspend the PC depending on the circumstance and the frequency of use.
What happens when the PC shuts down "> automatic maintenance such as backing up files, cleaning the disk and updating the antivirus.
Regarding the suspension, I remember a special trick explained some time ago that allows you to suspend and turn on the computer at a set time, in order to have it turned on and ready when needed.
However, the theory that turning on and off the computer can stress the hardware and cause problems with mechanical parts such as the hard disk or fans does not apply.
Modern computers are able to withstand frequent reboots, power-ups and shutdowns (both in hibernation and shutdown modes) without any suffering or risk of malfunction.
In this regard, I remember that keeping the PC always on certainly causes wear of some components and that it is always better to turn off the PC at night.
What is the best option?
Considering the factors listed here, the answer to the title question is perhaps that of the most obvious compromise: that of turning off the computer at night and if you do not plan to use it until the following day, use the suspension during the day.
Sleep or standby can be useful for quickly turning the computer back on after a few hours.
From the Windows power saving options, you can activate automatic sleep after a certain period of non-use.
From the same options, by going to Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound> Change behavior of power buttons, you can also choose whether to stop or suspend the computer when you press the off / on button.
Please note that in addition to the suspension, Windows PCs can also use another shutdown mode, called hibernation.
In another article, we saw when to use computer hibernation or hibernation .
To finish, I remember the guide for solving the problem if the PC wakes up from sleep by itself .
