Maps on PC of Garmin or other gps navigator

Going back to talking about GPS and satellite navigators, let's now try to see a navigator that can be installed on the PC to see the maps on the computer, even if, without the possibility, at least to me known, of using a GPS receiver that marks the position.
There is a software provided by Garmin called MapSource, capable of creating, visualizing and modifying roads, roads and finding objects, addresses and POIs (points of interest). The latest version of Garmin MapSource can be downloaded from the official website even if that file is only an update for the real software that should be purchased with the relative CD. The trick to installing MapSource without the original installation CD is quite simple, however, and the steps are as follows:
1) Download the latest version of MapSource from the Garmin website.
2) Once the download is complete, extract the contents of the compressed package into a folder with programs such as 7-Zip or WinRAR (right click and extract to folder).
3) Open the newly extracted MapSource folder and double click on the MAIN.msi file; after it has finished working, you can click on the file Setup.exe to correctly install the program by following the guided procedure.
Mapsource is now installed but, if everything went well, you receive another error that warns you of the lack of maps loaded on the PC.
The message in English reads more or less with these words " Please install one or more MapSource map products and start MapSource again " which means " Please install one or more MapSource products and restart MapSource ".
Finding maps is not a problem, just import Google Maps or Bing Maps to Garmin for free.
For those who have them, it will not be a problem while for others, in reality, the Opensource maps are spreading, free of charge, which for several countries are already present and downloadable on the internet. For the links from which to download the Italian and European opensource maps, which work on Garmin navigators and on the PC with Map Source, I must ask for your help and support as they are not easy to find.
The Open Street Map website allows you to create your own map and provides all the explanations and tools to do it.
On the Italy Maps web page For Garmin, there is the link to download the Italian map Itop o20, opensource to be used on a Garmin satellite navigator and which should also work on MapSource.
On a web page in English there are other links to download the Italian maps on Garmin which should also work on PCs with MapSource.
A very famous and free program for PCs that allows you to create maps and edit them is GPS Trackmaker which is compatible with over 160 models of satellite navigators, above all many Garmin models.
To download the POIs or POIs, that is the points of interest, updated for any browser, the reference web portal is Poigps.com .
