Restrict PC use only for certain hours and days

If you want to prevent your children from staying too long on the computer or for any other reason you want to make sure that the PC is not used all day but only in certain hours, it is possible, with a simple command, to assign a limit of computer usage time.
There are several ways to limit the daily usage time of the computer to users registered on the Windows PC .
In Windows 7 you can use Windows Family Safety while on a Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 PC there is the possibility to create a controlled and protected account with the "family" function .
We have seen, in another article, how to create a child account in Windows 8 and also in Windows 10 where just go to the Settings, in the Account section.
The management of child accounts can be done from the website account.microsoft.com/family, which allows, among other things, also to set time restrictions and therefore prevent controlled users from staying on the computer more than a certain number of hours.
In Windows 10, this family and kids account feature is only available if you use a Microsoft account and not a local account.
If, on the other hand, you are using a local account in Windows 10, there is another way to limit the computer usage time for a specific registered user .
To define an interval of hours in which, for specific days, you can use the Windows 10 computer using a local account, you need to open a command prompt window.
Then press the Windows-X keys together and open the command prompt with administrator permissions.
From here, write the following command and press Enter:
net user / time :,
Instead of writing the name of the local account registered and to be restricted.
Instead of, indicate the day of the week using the initials in English: M, T, W, Th, F, Sa, Su .
Instead of writing the time interval instead.
For example:
net user pomhey / time: M-Sa, 5 pm-7pm
This command allows the user who accesses with the login name pomhey to use the PC only from 5 to 7 in the afternoon, from Monday to Saturday.
This is another example:
net user pomhey / times: MF, 10: 00-22: 00; Sa-Su, 09: 00-23: 00
The latter example tells us that the pomhey user can use the PC from Monday to Friday from 10 in the morning to 10 in the evening while Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 23.
Outside of this time limit, the pomhey user will not be able to access his account and, if he does not have the password of other accounts, he will not be able to use the PC.
To cancel this setting and return to allow full access to the user, you must instead execute this command:
net user pomhey / time: all
In this way, the user with the pomhey name can go back to using the PC at any time.
