Make all programs work in Windows 10

One of the main doubts for those who have yet to choose to update Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 is related to the installed programs.
The fear is that old programs are incompatible with the new system, refusing to start and ending with an error.
Fortunately, almost every problem of this type can be solved thanks to a tool included in Windows 10 that allows you to deceive the non-functioning program making you think you are using a previous version of Windows.
This way almost every program or executable file will run smoothly in Windows 10 .
The tool made available by Microsoft and already included in Windows 10 is called " program compatibility troubleshooting ".
You can find it by searching for the word compatibility in the search box or in the Start menu with the name " Run programs created for previous versions of Windows "
Once opened, click on Next and let Windows automatically find all the installed programs.
If what you need to correct should be missing, click on " not listed ".
Go next and try the recommended settings, which will automatically set the optimal configuration.
If at the end of the procedure it still doesn't work, repeat the procedure up to here and this time press on troubleshooting specifying that the program worked in previous versions of Windows, but not in this one.
Indicate which version of Windows you had before, if Windows 7 or 8 and test the program to see if this time it is ok.
After the test, go ahead and report the result by saving the configuration or trying another in case of failure.
The same procedure to make every program work also old, not updated and not compatible can be configured manually.
Then right-click on a program icon from the Start menu or from the desktop, go to the properties and then to the compatibility tab.
If the compatibility card is not found, from the program properties press on Find destination and go to the properties by clicking on the original program icon.
If it is an .exe file, click directly on it.
In the compatibility tab you can choose an older version of Windows to make the program work and you can activate other graphic options, to be used in case that program opens but looks bad.
You can therefore decrease the resolution, reduce the colors and disable the screen resizing.
Once done, press Apply and then OK.
If there are multiple people using that computer, press on " Change settings for all users " and select the options above.
