Do the Google Account security check

February 9 is the day of internet security or Safer Internet Day organized every year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technologies, especially for young people.
On this occasion, every year, Google requires all users registered with an account (including Gmail, Android, youtube, Blogger and all the other services in the Google world) to check up and check that their account is protected against possible theft or intrusion attempts.
As an additional incentive, Google said that for all those who complete the account security check there will be, as a gift, an additional 2GB free space on Google Drive, permanent and forever.

The Google account security check is done starting from this page, entering the password and following the guided procedure.
Various information must therefore be confirmed or filled in, including:
- The ways to recover the access password, with a security question or by receiving it on another email account or as an SMS on the mobile phone when forgotten or hacked.
- Checking on the origin and date of the last connections, to verify that there are no unauthorized external access or access by other people to your account.
- The devices and apps authorized to access the account without a password request, including also Android smartphones and tablets and applications that were accessed via the Google or Gmail account.
From here, remove all applications and devices that are no longer used.
- Finally, you can activate or check the 2-step verification settings for the Google and Gmail account as already explained in the past.
It is also strongly recommended to install the Password Alert extension to receive an alert if the password is compromised or already used in the past.
At the end you will be able to check all the other Google account settings including the history, the management of the inactive account in case of death, the download of all the stored data and personal info.
