Uninstall and remove Bonjour and mDNSResponder.exe from Itunes

When installing ITunes, unfortunately eighteen thousand different things are installed including the useless Quicktime and a mysterious service called Bonjour .
If ITunes has already been installed, opening the task manager you will notice a process called mDNSResponder.exe that you really don't know what it does.
Since this takes up memory, it is important to know what it is for and why it is there, and then decide, if necessary, to remove it and uninstall the Bonjour service .
As you can see, going on the Windows application installation menu, there is no trace of Bonjour.
Apple, like so many software manufacturers, likes to put software and hide them so as not to uninstall them.
The mDNSResponder.exe process belongs to the Bonjour service for Windows, which would be a kind of connection manager installed automatically by iTunes.
If you've ever wondered (in my opinion never) how two iTunes are connected to each other on two different computers that are connected to the same local network, here is the answer is Mr. Bonjour.
This communication service is not only put by ITunes but also by Skype, Pidgin, Safari and other programs that can be used in a local network.
On another page it is explained how to share the audio on the network between two computers to hear the sound of one with the speakers of the other and, to do it, you need Bonjour.
It is implemented as a Windows service, and you can see it by looking for the "Bonjour Service" in the list of services (From the Start menu -> Run and write services.msc).
So, let's get to the point: Bonjour can be removed when you do not share the libraries (music, images and videos) on ITunes, that is, when you do not intend to synchronize the content of ITunes between two computers connected to the same home or office network.
I doubt that there are many people who use ITunes in this way but if you don't even know what I'm talking about, then I can advise you to remove and uninstall Bonjour while maintaining ITunes.
If it does reserve, there will be no problem and reinstall it and make it operational.
Firstly, it should be noted that it is possible to disable Bonjour without necessarily removing it, because, from the list of services seen before, it is possible to click on the Bonjour Service and disable it.
This is probably the best thing if you don't really want to risk losing something, so if you notice any malfunctions, you can always reactivate immediately.
If you are absolutely sure you want to remove it, however, it is really very simple.
You must open the command prompt in administrator mode (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt -> right click and choose Run as administrator) then write cd C: \ Program Files \ Bonjour and, finally write mDNSResponder.exe -remove and you receive an English message notifying you that the service has been removed.
Then you must also disable the DLL file in the directory so it is no longer loaded together with Windows and, this time, it is better not to delete it but to rename it so, at the limit, you can go back by returning the original name.
Without exiting the first prompt then write: ren mdnsNSP.dll mdnsNSP.old
If you want to be very drastic, after disabling Bonjour, you can also remove the entire folder by hand and delete it.
In case you regret having eliminated Bonjour or you notice ITunes is no longer working properly, then maybe you should rehabilitate it .
If the Bonjour folder has not been deleted then reopen the command prompt, return to the folder as seen before and this time write mDNSResponder.exe -install
If, on the other hand, you have deleted the entire folder by making the mDNSResponder.exe file disappear, then you must reinstall it, downloading it from the Apple website to the Bonjour download page.
If he has his own stew, look at how to uninstall iTunes by completely removing Apple programs from the computer and remember that to manage the files of an Ipod, an IPod Touch or an IPhone without iTunes there are many other possibilities.
