How to recover deleted files and photos from memory card and USB sticks
We have tested only the best programs to recover any type of file deleted by mistake, we will only have to try them all with the stick or memory card inserted inside the PC.
1) PhotoRec
One of the best programs to recover files from USB sticks, memory cards, memory cards but also CD DVDs and hard drives is PhotoRec, which we can download for free from here -> PhotoRec .
It looks like an excellent recovery software that allows you to read and see lost photos not only from any photographic memory medium but also from USB keys, hard drives, CDs and DVDs . PhotoRec installs on all operating systems, is open source and is very simple to use.
To use the program, simply select the disk or memory card among those available within the program, indicate the type of file system and the method of recovering the files, then indicate a folder where to recover the deleted files recovered by the program ( Browse button) and when we are ready click on Search at the bottom.
It may also take hours, depending on the size of the media to be recovered and the speed of reading, but in the end we will see the photos, images and documents saved in the indicated path.
This program works with any type of file: Office files, .doc .xls .ppt, video files such as .avi .mp4, audio files .mp3 .wma and in particular .jpg, .png and .gif image files.
PhotoRec manages to operate on the filesystem of the memory card even when it is damaged, since it searches directly for the file-header of all the formats of photo archives.
If we think we have lost photos forever from a disk or from an external memory, try PhotoRec and we will not be disappointed.
2) Recuva
One of the most used programs to recover deleted files from a disk or memory card is Recuva, freely downloadable from here -> Recuva .
To use the program, simply start it and follow the guided wizard steps: select the types of files to be recovered, the removable disk or memory from which to act and start the search (also in depth mode to find even more files).
We await the long search and at the end we will have all the files deleted and recoverable: those without damage are reported in green, while those reported in yellow, orange or red may no longer be recoverable.
We select the files to be recovered and save them on our PC.
3) Digicam Photo Recovery
Another program that we can use to recover photos deleted by mistake is Digicam Photo Recovery, downloadable for free from here -> Digicam Photo Recovery .
It takes just two clicks to recover deleted photos, so you can save them to a safer place.
Select the disk or external memory from those available in the drop-down menu, then click Find any Pictures to start the search for the deleted photos.
The time required obviously depends on the reading speed of the disk and the size of the file system to be analyzed.

4) DiskDigger
If we want to use a complete program to recover any file deleted by mistake we can try DiskDigger, available for download here -> DiskDigger .
This program is presented as a portable application that allows you to recover all the files lost or accidentally deleted from removable disks, external hard drives, memory cards and memory cards. (Images, documents, videos, music, data, etc.)
Its operation is very simple : select the disk whose lost or accidentally deleted files you want to find and click Next . Now select the type of file you want to search for; you can only select image files instead of selecting all file types, this speeds up the recovery process (which can be very long).
5) EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard
Another program to try to recover any type of file deleted by mistake is EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, downloadable for free from here -> EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard .
This program is also very simple to use: select the disk, USB stick or external memory from which to recover the deleted data and start the recovery process.
The deleted and recoverable files will all be visible in the right part of the program, we will only have to click Recover to save them in another folder.
6) Wise Data Recovery
Among the many tools that we can use to attempt the recovery of deleted files we can also try Wise Data Recovery, available here -> Wise Data Recovery .
With this program it will be really easy to attempt recovery on external disks and USB sticks.
Select the drive to recover from in the top left corner then click on Scan .
After a thorough scan (it may take even hours) we will see all the recoverable files indicated with the green icon, while for the yellow and red ones it is difficult to foresee their recovery.
Select the files to be recovered and then click on the bottom right on Recover to start recovering and saving them in another folder or location.
