Turn off Wifi scanning on Android and other advanced options

In a previous article we saw how location detection and history works on Android, hinting that applications can know where we are even without activating GPS and the internet
Wi-Fi scanning is the low-battery feature that locates your Android phone or tablet, better than it would when using cellular networks.
If you want to disable the scan of wifi networks to locate the phone, you have to open the settings, go to Wifi and then touch the Advanced option.
From here you can activate or deactivate the option " Scan always available ".
However, this option does not disable the Google location reporting service which must instead be configured in the geolocation settings.
The best compromise is to leave the low-consumption geolocation active, necessary for the operation of some applications, and, also to save battery, disable the Wi-Fi scan, and also disable the location history.
Going back to the advanced Wifi settings, it is also worth disabling the notification one when an open network is found .
In addition, scrolling down, you can also change the option that keeps wifi active when not using the phone, useful to save battery when not connected to the charger.
In relation, as seen, you can automatically activate and deactivate the wifi depending on the time and place where you are, thanks to some applications.
Another advanced option of Android Wifi is that of the frequency band, to limit the scanning of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks or 5Ghz networks.
Skip the certificate option that is never used and switch to Wifi Direct, which we have already talked about extensively to explain what Wifi Direct is and how it is used.
Basically, it serves to establish a connection with another device (such as the printer) even if there is no internet connection.
The last two options are related to Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS which allows you to connect a device to a router without having to enter a password.
You can activate this function by touching it and then pressing the WPS button on the router or by entering the PIN set in the router configuration.
The last two items in the Wi-Fi options are the MAC address of the device and the IP address.
The IP address can not be changed from here, but can be set by going back to the list of wifi networks, touching and holding on the connected network.
Then tap on Edit network and then on Advanced options to set a static IP address manually.
