Thanks to Google Chromecast, everyone can stream and wirelessly from PC to TV any content including music, photos and, above all, videos. The same thing can be easily done with an Android smartphone and tablet for which there are numerous applications, simple and free, to transmit videos on TV without difficulty. The only problems with the Chromecast come if you use, instead of an Android smartphone, an iPhone or an iPad.
The fact is that Apple, not at all happy with the success of the Google device that is beating the Apple TV, does nothing for integration with the Chromecast.
Of course, Youtube apps and the Chrome browser are supported, but if you want to stream a video from iPad to TV, you need to install some less known apps.
To make the iPhone and iPad work with the Chromecast, you must first install the official Google Home app which creates the connection between the devices.
I refer to the guide and the chromecast tricks to find all the instructions for use.
Unfortunately, on iPhone and iPad, unlike Android, you will not find in any of the internal apps the button to transmit on the Chromecast so, in addition to the official app, you must also download something else.
As you can see from the gallery of apps compatible with the Chromecast for iPhone and iPad, the possibilities are many, but often very poor.
1) Videostream is the app to remotely control videos transmitted from the PC on the Chromecast.
2) The best app to use the Chromecast from the iPhone or iPad is Streamer, free, with which you can stream anything from your smartphone or tablet to TV: photos, music and even videos and movies.
3) A good app to view iPhone or iPad photos on TV via Chromecast is Video TV Cast, which costs one Euro and works quite well. The application allows you to browse the iPhone roll and transmit images on TV. Castnow also works with videos stored on the phone.
4) EZCast allows you to send any video and photo content to Chromecast, even if it is streamed from the internet and is a great application.
5) PhotoCast is a simple to use app capable of transmitting photos and videos even in high resolution on TV from the iPhone or iPad. It works well and also supports photo slide shows.
6) Video & TV Cast is a more experimental app that would allow you to watch videos found on the internet on TV. In practice, it is used to watch videos streamed from the iPhone or iPad and broadcast them on TV. Unfortunately it does not work with all sites but, being free, it is worth a try.
7) Photo Video Cast to Chromecast is a complete app to view photos, slideshows and videos on TV that works great, simple and free.
8) Plex allows you to stream from iPhone to TV
9) Chromecast TV Streamer is an app to stream online video from websites, iPad or iPhone to the TV.
10) Memocast is a gem that activates the transmission on Chromecast from Safari browser by mirroring the sites visited and, therefore, also videos and movies streamed from the internet.
