How to send messages by voice

With modern telephones we can do practically everything, even dictate the text of an SMS or a chat message.
In this way we can respond to a friend or relative when we have our hands busy or we are driving (so as not to get distracted dangerously from the road and the steering wheel).
But how to send messages verbally on Whatsapp or via SMS on modern smartphones "> Dictate verbally on Android and iPhone
The guide will be divided into 4 parts: in the first two we will show you how to enable the voice assistant to its full potential on the main mobile operating systems (so as to respond even when the phone screen is off), in the last two parts we will show you instead how to send SMS messages or with other messaging apps (such as WhatsApp ) using voice only .
The only premise concerns the ambient sounds: if we are in the car, for example, we lower the volume of the car radio and try if possible to send messages only at low speeds (better still when stationary), so as to reduce the background hiss .
1) Enable voice assistant on Android
Before seeing how to send messages, we need to make sure that our phone's voice assistant is enabled for continuous listening, even with the screen turned off.
To do this on an Android phone, open the Google app, click on the Other icon at the bottom, then go to the Settings -> Voice -> Voice Match path.
From the window that will open we enable the items Log in with Voice Match and Unlock with Voice Match .

The system will ask you to register your voice model by saying "OK, Google" 4 times.
After the creation of the model we are ready to send messages by voice!
If the smartphone we own does not have an updated version of the Google app, we can update it using the link present here -> Google Android App .
2) Enable the voice assistant on iPhone
If we use an iPhone, we will have integrated the Siri voice assistant, which allows you to send messages using only your voice.
If we have turned off Siri for any reason or it does not respond to our requests, we check that Siri is active by opening the Settings app, going to the Siri and Search menu and making sure that the items Enable "Hey Siri" and Use Siri when blocked are enabled .

From now on it is sufficient to say the activation command Hey Siri to put the voice assistant in listening, so that you can send messages by voice.
3) How to send voice messages with Android
After checking the voice assistant on your Android smartphone, you can send a message via SMs or Whatasapp using only your voice, just say "OK Google" and use one of the following models to create your message:
- Send an SMS to [Name in address book]
- Send a message to [Username / Group] with WhatsApp
- Send message [App name] to [Username]
We replace where necessary with the name of the contact, the name of the group to be contacted or the name of the app to be used.
Using one of these models, the voice assistant will create the message for you and, after a few seconds, it will ask us to dictate the text or the body of the message, taking care to pronounce "dot" at the end of the speech (the assistant it will stop the acquisition even after 3-4 seconds of silence).
After completing the message, the assistant will ask us if we want to send it immediately: we confirm by saying Yes, so as to send the message to the chosen contact or to the user / group present on WhatsApp.
In addition to WhatsApp, the Telegram and Facebook Messenger apps are compatible.
4) How to send voice messages with iPhone
If we use an iPhone, to send messages dictating them verbally with Whatsapp or with SMS, just say "Hey Siri" and use one of the following models to create the message to be sent:
- Send an SMS message to [Name in address book]
- Send WhatsApp message to [Username / Group]
- Send a message with [App name] to [Username]
We replace the name of the user, group or app where necessary; Siri will ask us to dictate the body of the message to be sent.
To stop the acquisition, just keep quiet for 3 seconds: at that point Siri will show us a summary window of the message and ask us if we want to send it immediately, we just have to answer Yes to complete the procedure.
5) Conclusions
Sending a voice is really very simple and above all safe, especially in situations where we cannot use our hands at all to avoid dangerous situations (such as driving for example).
The technology of the voice assistants in this sense can help a lot: in addition to being an instrument of fun and entertainment, it can reduce our working times and make us more productive.
Obviously we do not expect absolute perfection: the assistants could misunderstand a word or add punctuation that we had not foreseen, but with the passage of time they become more and more precise in recognizing our voice, reducing errors to a minimum.
