How to set up Google to search from Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge

As known, I hope to all, with the latest versions of each web browser you can search the Internet from the address bar . On all browsers, just write a word or phrase on the address bar to start the search on Google, if it is the default search engine. The same thing happens on browsers for Android or iPhone mobile phones, where the address bar can be used to search with the default engine. The search on the internet, in Italy, unfortunately has no alternatives and must always be done with Google, the only one that really works well (the others like Bing or DuckDuckGo, in the Italian version, are rather inefficient).
If for some reason, following the installation of a program, a very annoying toolbar or for a click too many we find ourselves with a browser that has a search engine other than Google (usually it is Bing or Yahoo, but there are also fake search engines full of advertising), we see in this guide how to change the default search engine of the browser on PC, Android Smartphone, iPhone and iPad, in order to search with Google on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and the new arrived on Windows, or Edge.

Set Google as a search engine in web browsers

On almost all the browsers mentioned Google is already present as a search engine in the address bar, but if for some reason it has changed, let's see how to restore it quickly. For all those reported we will show you the steps to follow both in the PC version and in the mobile version.

Change Search Engine in Google Chrome

On Chrome we can restore Google as the default search engine by clicking on the menu with the three dots at the top right, selecting Settings and clicking on the Search Engine menu, present on the left side.

Let's make sure that Google is present in the address bar next to the item Search engine using ; otherwise we open the drop-down menu and select it. Alternatively we can set Google Italy as the default search engine by clicking on the Manage search engines item, pressing the Add button and using the address as URL :
//www.google.it/search "> Android or iOS we open the browser app, tap at the top right of the menu with the three dots and go to the Settings path -> Search Engine to change the search engine on Google .

Google search with Mozilla Firefox

If we use Mozilla Firefox as a browser on our computer, we can reset Google as the default search engine by clicking on the icon with the three horizontal lines at the top right, selecting the Options menu and finally going to the Search menu, located on the left side.

In the Default search engine section, make sure Google is indicated, otherwise select it from the drop-down menu. To search for other search engines compatible with Firefox, just visit the dedicated page.
If we have decided to use Firefox on Android and iOS, we can change the default search engine by tapping on the menu at the top right with the three dots icon, going to the Settings -> Search path and choosing Google among all the providers present.

Set up Google on Safari

If we use an iMac or a MacBook and we want to reset Google as a search engine, we open the Safari browser, click on the Safari item at the top left and select the Preferences item ... from the menu displayed.

Now let's go to the Search tab, find the Search Engine item and make sure to select Google from the drop-down menu, so as to restore the Google search within the browser.
From iPhone and iPad we can change the default search engine of the browser by opening the Settings app, tapping on Safari and choosing Google next to the Search engine item.

Search with Google on Microsoft Edge

On Windows 10 the default browser is Edge which basically searches from the address bar using Bing. If we intend to use Google as a search engine, we open the Google page within Edge, click on the icon with the three dots at the top right, press Settings, open the Advanced menu and scroll until we find the Change button search provider .

The Google search engine (automatically identified by the browser) will also appear in the list; to add it, all we have to do is press on it and select Set as default .
If we use Edge as a browser on Android and iOS, we open the app, press the icon with the three dots at the bottom right, go to the Settings -> Advanced settings path and select Google next to the item Search engine . If we do not immediately find the voice of Google, we tap on the Others button and select Google to correctly set the search engine of the browser.

Conclusions

Changing the search engine within modern browsers is relatively easy, both in the event that we need to make the change on the PC browser and in the event that we need to adjust the browser on our smartphone or tablet.
If the browser continues to change the search engine without warning, even after having manually changed it, a "spy" add-on or malware to be removed may be active.
In this regard, we advise you to clean up browser viruses by reading our guide on how to remove viruses from Chrome and Firefox when slow or with too much advertising .
If the problem is caused by a virus hidden inside Windows and we wanted to restore the browser to the initial settings, we recommend you read our two guides on how to clean up the PC infected with malware by eliminating all traces and how to restore browsers Chrome, Firefox, Edge .
