Connect the Phone to Windows 10 with "Continue on PC" (Android and iPhone)

One of the most recent features introduced in Windows 10 is the new Phone section in the Settings . This section is dedicated to the configuration of the connection between phone and PC, which should serve to continue the activities started on the smartphone (for example a document or a website). In practice it is a function that allows you to share files or notes from an Android phone or from an iPhone to the PC without using external software and without using cables, in wifi.
In this guide we see how to use this connection via the " Continue on PC " function, even if it still remains a not too effective solution, clearly less functional than what can be done using some more well-known programs.

From the Start menu you can then open the Settings and find Phone .
Press on Telephone and then on Add a telephone to open a window in which you are asked for the mobile phone number used.
In reality this step is completely useless at the moment because it does nothing more than automatically send an SMS to the mobile phone with the link of the application to download to make the connection.
The app to be installed on the phone is precisely Microsoft Launcher for Android (but better still Your Phone Companion, the app that serves to connect Android to the PC) and Continue On PC for iPhone that can be downloaded even without having to send the SMS .
Once the app is installed (in the case of Android it is not necessary to use the Microsoft Launcher, it is sufficient that it is installed or that you use Your Phone Co0mpanion) it becomes possible to share anything on the phone using the Share menu. On an iPhone, you can touch the "Share" button in the Safari browser or in any other app (including the Photos one) with the Share button, then go to Other by scrolling the line of options to the right and then choosing Continue on the PC. After enabling this option once, the " Continue on PC " icon will be immediately visible each time the Share button is used.
On an Android phone you can press Share from the main menu of any application. On Chrome, Google Photos and many other apps there is the possibility to use the Share option and find, after installing Microsoft Launcher, the possibility to use Continue on PC .
To make this connection between phone and PC work, you need to do two things:
First of all, you must be logged in with a Microsoft account on the Windows 10 PC, updated to Fall Creators Update.
When then requested by Continue on PC, you must also log in to the Microsoft account on your smartphone, which is the same used on the PC.
The second thing to do is to activate on Windows 10 the option to authorize the projection on this PC which, oddly enough, is not in the Settings> phone but in Settings> System . Then open Settings> System, press on Projections in this PC and then, on the right, change the two options by putting Available everywhere and Only the first time .
Once logged in to the Microsoft account and after activating the projection on this PC, when you share something using Continue on your PC from Android or iPhone you will find the name of our computer, to be touched for sharing. You can also touch " Continue after " to receive a notification on all configured PCs. The receipt of the share will be visible in the Windows 10 notifications.
The connection between phone and PC Windows 10 also works through the Microsoft Edge browser for Android and iPhone, which includes the button to continue on PC directly in its main screen.
As mentioned above, however, this connection between Windows 10 and Android or iPhone remains rather weak and not very functional.
Much more convenient, however, to use applications such as Pushbullet to send notes and links to the PC from the phone and which also allows you to receive notifications received on your mobile phone on your computer.
