Block personalized advertising from Amazon, Google, Facebook and other sites

As we can see every day if we are Amazon customers, in every other website that we open, advertisements usually show the latest products searched for and an invitation to buy them, as if Amazon were following us everywhere. Sometimes these "reminders" can be a pleasure to resume a purchase that has remained pending, but other times they can be a privacy problem, especially if you use the same computer at home or in the office with other people.
It is not only Amazon that follows us on the internet by appearing with personalized advertising messages on each site we visit, because other shopping sites, such as Ebay, also do the same thing. Then there are other sites, such as Facebook and Google, which since they sell advertising, monitor users' browsing habits, the first following the "likes", the second instead by tracking the searches on the Google search engine.
For all of us who surf the internet, if annoyed by these marketing and remarketing mechanisms, there are several ways to block personalized advertising and therefore disable the monitoring that the great portals do on our commercial and internet browsing habits .
First of all, let's say that most sites use cookies on our computer to know which sites we visited and what we looked for.
In another article we have already explained what cookies are and what they mean for online privacy and also published a guide to cookies to understand how to block and delete them.
However, starting to manage cookies and storing them on the computer may not be a practical way, because for the functioning of many applications they are fundamental.
Much more practical is to use the exclusion tools provided by the advertising networks themselves, which can be set once and for all on your PC and in the different accounts we have online.
For example, if you do not want Amazon to follow our commercial habits, you can block the personalization of advertisements on the internet by opening the Amazon.it website, going to the My Account section and clicking the Advertising settings link.
Then select the " Do not customize the ads provided by Amazon on this internet browser " option and press the confirmation button to disable Amazon's personalized advertisements.
Google also has an options page similar to that of Amazon, which allows you to block advertisements based on my interests both on the search engine and on Youtube, and on the millions of sites that use Google advertising.
On the adsettings page, you can decide to turn off the personalized ads switch or you can decide which are the categories of advertising that you would prefer to see.

Advertising is also personalized on Facebook, where side ads and sponsored posts appear based on the likes, the pages followed, the posts we read and the sites we visit every day.
You can manage your Facebook advertising preferences in a dedicated section of your account settings, at www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/.
In this section you can find out how Facebook knows all our preferences, block advertisements based on the sites and apps used, ads based on social actions and then exclude ads of certain categories.
Also on the Microsoft site you have the option to disable personalized advertisements on your browser or for your Microsoft account.
For other types of advertisements on the internet, such as Ebay, you can click the blue triangle that appears at the top left or right on the banners in order to block monitoring.
The internet advertising management page that collects preferences for all networks in the world is on the aboutads site, where you can disable any personalized ads with the "opt-out" operation.
The options apply to the browser in use and are reset if the cookies are deleted.
If you want to do more, there are some extensions to block the collection of personal data and not be tracked online .
