Recording what you see on the computer screen is useful both to create video tutorials to be put online or to be sent via Email to those who need it, both to record videos from the internet that, otherwise, it would be impossible to save on the computer, or to record webcams, themselves or others in the case of a video chat. There are several free programs to record audio and video of anything that passes on the screen, and in other articles I had already compiled an exhaustive list.
On this occasion I add another that is very easy to use and that allows you to record everything that passes on the computer screen, video and audio .
SMRecorder is a free video recorder for Windows, which can record both video and audio, saving everything in an AVI file .
During the installation you just have to be careful to put the Custom installation in order to remove 4 annoying options (change of the home of the internet, of the provider of search and installation of the sponsor).
SM Recorder however is really simple to use and the opening interface contains just 3 buttons.
The first is the most important one, because it allows you to start a new recording. In the configuration phase you must choose the source of the video, that is if it comes from the webcam if it is a video that is seen on the computer desktop or if you want to record only the audio of the computer or from a microphone. In the general tab, there are options to choose where the audio comes from, where to save the recording and the duration. The most important option is the Capture Size which allows you to select the area of the desktop to be recorded . If you record the whole screen, keep in mind that the video recording avi file will be very large.
In video settings you can decide whether to raise or lower the quality of the recording while in Audio settings you can choose the volume of the microphone and whether to mute the sound during recording. After pressing OK, the program starts recording immediately. By pressing the icon at the bottom right near the clock, you can pause the video recorder and then resume it later. The registration process can be suspended or interrupted at any time by opening the application.
When you finish recording, you can press the Stop button and SMRecorder creates the recording avi video, saving it in the preconfigured folder on the PC.
The folder containing the recording can be accessed directly by clicking on the Folder button (penultimate button from the right).
The recorded video is perfect, the audio instead can be disturbed, with a background noise. You can play with the volume to try to remove any rustling but, if the result does not satisfy, I remember that there are numerous other alternative programs reported in the pages of this blog:
