Activate night mode on iPhone and iPad for reading in the dark

It is now known that using a cell phone at night is bad for the eyes and is also not good for sleep and general health .
The fault lies with the white and blue light shot in the eyes in night environments, which has an effect very similar to the midday sun, stimulating and awakening the brain, causing disturbances to sleep and concentration.
We talked about this problem in more detail, explaining how to protect your eyesight from computer and mobile screens and how effective a program like F.Lux is that automatically dims blue light at night .
Just inspired by this program, Apple has added the night mode on iPhone and iPad, brought with the iOS 9.3 update, available from today.
This new night mode, called in English " Night Shift ", adjusts the color temperature of the iPhone screen in order to replace the blue-white light with a warmer and less tiring light, the red-yellow light of a candlelight, much less stimulating for our brain.
The difference, for those who have used applications of this type down, is really sensitive and important, making it easier to use the iPhone in bed or in the dark.
To take advantage of the new night light feature, you need a recent iPhone with an updated A7 64-bit iOS 9.3 processor.
Put simply , night mode works on iPad Air, Mini iPad 2 and iPad Pro, iPhone 5s and above, not on iPhone 4s, 5 and 5C, iPad 2, 3, 4 and Mini.
To update the iPhone to iOS 9.3, as usual, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update and download the upgrade.
The Night Mode function is very simple to activate and deactivate and you can also make it activate automatically when the sun sets and deactivate at dawn .
In iOS 9.3, there are two ways to use Night mode or "Night Shift": you can activate it on demand via the iOS control center or you can set the times so that the screen color dissolves gradually entering Night mode when the sun sets.
To activate or deactivate Night Shift mode, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen, open the control center and touch the new Night icon that looks like a darkening sun.
In the window that appears, where night mode is briefly explained, there are two buttons: " Turn on until 7 " and " Schedule settings ".
With this second button you can access the options of the Night Shift mode and you can make it activate automatically in a programmed way.
The same settings can be accessed from the iPhone Settings application, in the screen section.
Here you can decide the times to automatically activate and deactivate night mode and also try the different color temperature of the screen, deciding whether it should be more or less warm and, therefore, how much to mitigate the blue in favor of the red tint.
