After years of waiting and requests, Facebook has finally released a light version of its application, dedicated to the weakest smartphones and oriented towards the poorest countries. It is Facebook Lite, an app with a size smaller than a mega, very light and that allows you to use Facebook even on old Android smartphones, where the main app is almost unusable.
Personally I tried it on an old HTC Wildfire on which the normal Facebook app did not open almost anymore.
The result was excellent, being able to take advantage of all Facebook functions without slowing down and without fear that everything will stop.
The application opens Facebook with ultra spartan graphics, without too many drawings and animations.
But you can do everything: read the news of your friends, publish a status update and one or more photos, look at the profile of your friends, add new friends, receive and check notifications (to be managed in the settings) and manage all the settings of Facebook.
In addition, this small application also integrates Facebook chat, which in the main app requires the installation of Facebook Messenger and also allows you to manage fan pages without having to install the Page Manager app.
The main advantage of the app is that it does not take up memory space being less than 1 MB in size and that it is fast on old or cheap phones and also with very slow internet connections that are not LTE or 3G.
Facebook Lite is part of the social network's strategy of making its services accessible worldwide, even in Africa and Asia in the poorest countries.
The Lite application can also come in handy to us, in Italy, if we don't have a new phone or if we use a slow connection and, above all, if we complain about how heavy the main app is.
