Enable ActiveX filtering on trusted sites in Internet Explorer

I have seen a recent report on Internet Explorer 11 that indicates the latest version of the Microsoft browser as the safest browser for surfing the internet.
Always a good revenge this for the older of the web browsers compared to the freshest and quickest competitors, Firefox and Chrome in the lead.
That IE is the safest can certainly be doubted but the expansion of the security controls in Internet Explorer 11 is there and indeed can cause some problems and strange malfunctions in the display of some websites and web pages that contain Flash video, applets Java, games and other content that requires Java or Adobe Flash plugins.
The cause of these problems is the new ActiveX Filtering option which must be configured correctly.
ActiveX controls are the plugins of Internet Explorer, we could say that they are extensions required by some websites to play multimedia content for watching videos and playing games.
One of the easiest ways to find out if the ActiveX filter is responsible for display problems is to enable the ActiveX filter and visit the Youtube site.
If there is active protection, YouTube requests to install Adobe Flash Player even if it is already present while disabling ActiveX filtering protection returns to the video.
The ActiveX filter is disabled by default so when installing Internet Explorer 9 for the first time there should be no problems.
Many blogs suggest disabling ActiveX filtering completely to solve every problem but since we are much better, we see a better solution, without eliminating the useful and effective protection of ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer 9 .
ActiveX controls are sometimes useful but they are also a classic way of installing viruses on computers.
Internet Explorer 11, thanks to ActiveX filtering, prevents websites from installing and using ActiveX controls on your computer, blocking them all .
The best solution to avoid problems is by customizing the filter so that ActiveX controls are allowed on some safe and trusted websites .
After activating the ActiveX filter (by clicking on the wheel at the top right Tools> security> ActiveX Filtering ), you have to create the exceptions so as to disable it on trusted sites such as, for example, YouTube, Yahoo Video, Facebook, Navigaweb, Repubblica, Corriere, flash game sites and all those that require the Flash plugin, Java or other ActiveX controls to be installed.
Also on this site, you will see, in the address bar, where //www.navigaweb.net is written, a blue circle symbol on the right side.
It means that some contents of the site have been filtered and are not displayed.
Click on the blue symbol and then press the button to deactivate ActiveX Filtering .
Now repeat this step for every trusted, trusted and secure site that you don't want to deprive yourself of content and functionality.
To do this first and eliminate any display problems with websites, it is better to create a personal list of trusted sites .
Find the address of the secure site, press the Tools button -> Internet Options -> security tab -> press the green icon of the trusted sites and then the Sites button.
Deselect the checkbox next to Request server verification (https :) and write, for example, //www.navigaweb.net/ and press Add to enter the site in the safe area .
After adding other sites whose reliability is known, close the list window and press the "customized level" button .
Scroll down until you find Allow ActiveX Filtering and disable it.
Internet Explorer 11 therefore maintains the security setting that counteracts the execution of malicious code but does not affect the content from the sites added to the Trusted sites area.
It may happen that it happens on a new site that is not working properly, just add it to the list of trusted sites to make it work again.
In this post where we talk about Internet Explorer security, trusted zones and ActiveX controls enabled and disabled, I also report a tool called IEZoneAnalyzer that allows you to examine all Internet Explorer 11 security options for the 4 areas of websites (Internet, Intranet, trusted sites and restricted sites).
Internet Explorer users must always install SpywareBlaster which blocks spyware and malicious sites on IE .
