10 ways to ruin your cell phone and how to avoid it

Several years ago the most popular mobile phone in Italy was the Nokia 3310, practically indestructible (see also what made the Nokia 3310 better than current smartphones).
Today's cell phones, on the other hand, so beautiful and so full of extra functions, are very fragile and, in addition to having a shorter life, they are also easier to break or ruin.
A smartphone is a miniature computer, a tool to take care of, especially if they contain important data and sensitive information on which our work depends or that they simply don't want to be lost.
It is therefore worth knowing what should not be done with the smartphone to avoid breaking it, ruining it or even to decrease its duration and make it work as long as possible.
From the list of the 10 most trivial ways to ruin the smartphone, I leave out the most obvious recommendation, that of avoiding not to drop it on the ground.

1) Hot and cold .
Extreme temperatures ruin the smartphone, its internal components and the battery.
Leaving the phone on, in the car, in the sun, in the summer causes overheating of the circuits which can also be fatal for the mobile phone and certainly for the battery.
Some studies have shown that Android devices perform better in the cold than iPhones do, but, beyond this, it is good to know that at temperatures above 40 degrees or below 40 degrees, cell phones stop working.

2) Handcuff with unlocking programs, especially with the Android root
To get root permissions (administrator) on an Android smartphone, there are several more or less secure programs, but they must be used very carefully.
Anyone who has no experience in general computer science or who is not sure what he is doing, it would be better if he does not venture into these operations which, for Android phones, can bring the so-called " brick " of the device making it unusable.
This is why, in any serious site or blog that reports instructions to the root, there are disclaimers and warnings about the possibility that something can go wrong.
For iOS devices, the story is different, because even trying to unlock (Jailbreak) that is not successful, you can always restore the iPhone with iTunes.
3) Ignore malware and viruses
Smartphones are computers and, as such, are subject to viruses as much as Windows PCs are.
There is to consider that malware could do even worse damage on smartphones as they are able to monitor the location or steal very private data.
The malware risk is particularly present on Android devices, freer and more customizable than iPhones.
An antivirus for Android can therefore be useful or you just need to avoid installing applications outside the Google Play Store and check, for the lesser known apps in the store, the comments of those who have already installed it.
4) Full space
Unfortunately, most smartphones have a defect in memory space and over time, taking photos and installing applications, this is filled.
When the space of the internal memory or even the SD card is completely occupied and full of data, the mobile phone becomes slow and fails to function as it should.
We have seen several guides about it:
- Solve insufficient space on Android
- Free up space on Android memory and SD card
- Free up space on iPhone and iPad memory
5) Leave the phone always on
A smartphone is different from old cell phones and it is right that it remains on almost always, even at night.
However, you must not always leave them on without ever restarting them, because the continuous activity causes a slowdown of the system and of the RAM memory which is always full.
The advice is to restart it or, even better, keep it off for half an hour, at least once a week.

8) Put the mobile phone in the back pocket of the pants
They are above all the younger ones who, perhaps because they have tight trousers, keep the cell phone in the back pocket, which is absolutely to be avoided.
Today's smartphones are getting bigger and bigger and it's really easy for them to crack or crack as they sit down.
Also, if the pocket isn't large enough, the phone can easily slip off the floor.
9) Watch out for the sand
Smartphones all have a screen called Gorilla Glass, which, as explained in the article on screen protectors, are scratch resistant.
The only weak point is sand, pulverized lime or rocks, which can surely scratch the screen of almost any cell phone.
10) Wet the phone
Unless you have a waterproof smartphone, wetting your cell phone can be fatal.
If water enters the device, the first thing to do is to turn it off and remove the battery (if possible) and follow the guide on how to save a wet or fallen mobile phone.
