Check connection stability and ADSL quality

The stability of the internet connection is a concept closely linked to the quality of the ADSL, but it is independent of the maximum speed that data transfer via the internet can reach.
A line can also be very fast, but if it is unstable or with poor quality it could have frequent disconnections or sudden slowdowns.
An account is, therefore, the speed of data transfer, download or upload, another account is the calculation of the response time of the computer to requests that are made, for example to download a file.
If, therefore, there were problems downloading files or watching movies streamed from the internet despite the speed tests are signaling a good speed, then there may be a poor and unstable connection problem.
To check the internet connection stability and the quality of an ADSL there are various programs and tools, including one present on all computers and easy to use, the Ping command .

The first thing you can do to check the stability of your internet connection is to open a command prompt and ping .
To do this, go to the Start menu, search for Prompt and start the command prompt.
Once opened, write the following command as it appears here and execute it with the Enter key.
ping -t 8.8.8.8
This command send continuous requests to the Google DNS server.
Once you hit enter, the system will start pinging at regular intervals, telling us how quickly, in milliseconds, our computer has been able to get a response from the server.
In a normal situation, the response time should be around 30 ms.
If it were much more, then the connection may have some quality problems, while if the time intervals, after a certain period, were very different from each other (even more if the message Request expired appeared), it would be a signal that the our network is not stable.
The drastic differences in the ping time are attributable only to the instability of our connection.
To stop Ping, press the CTRL-C keys together.
When you finish this Ping operation, you will be able to read important statistics, which tell us if there have been lost packets, which must always be zero, and then also the minimum and maximum response times that have been detected and the average.
This type of control can also be done using some programs such as, for example, MyConnection PC which during its verification of stability and quality of the internet connection, also shows a graph and allows you to generate a report that also tells us how fast our ADSL.
An even better program for doing this type of analysis is VisualRoute, a free professional tool, very graphically cared for, which helps to determine if there is a connectivity problem due to bad internet connection, to test the quality of the ADSL.
Another article also lists other programs to test the network and the internet and find connection problems .
You can improve the quality of the internet connection from the computer "> router configuration panel, in the section relating to the description of the internet connection or in the network statistics (they are not always present, but you can easily check them).
In the article on how to solve problems in case of slow connection we have seen what are the optimal values of these measurements, which, as mentioned, depend on the network infrastructure of the internet provider and not on us.
What we can do is optimize the network parameters on the computer and the router configuration .
We therefore saw how:
- reduce the network latency and the connection time (Ping)
- Options that limit the internet bandwidth to be disabled in Windows
- Improve the quality of the internet connection
- Optimize the ADSL internet connection and the TCP / IP network to surf faster
