Use webcams or video devices with different programs together (messenger-skype)

After installing a video capture device, such as a webcam, a digital video camera, a TV tuner, or a video capture card, you can connect it to a single Windows video application .
Some of these video applications have been covered in several articles including: Optimizing reception from a digital or analog TV tuner and recording, Recording from a webcam, streaming the video taken with a webcam, applying graphic effects to the webcam.
The problem comes if you want to start another application that uses the same video source because on Windows you will get an error message saying that the device is already used by another application.
So any video device can be used with one and only one application or program and it is impossible, for example, to make a video conference using multiple programs at the same time, or record a TV program from the tuner with a software and watch another channel with another software, or even record your video chat with programs such as Windows Live Messenger or Skype, using a different recording software.
To use a webcam or any other video device with two or more different programs, it is necessary to use Splitcam (Download Splitcam) which divides the data of the video source, sharing it among multiple applications. With Splitcam you can connect up to 64 programs to a single video source.
Splitcam's video capture drivers allow the connection of different applications to the same video source.
After installing the Splitcam software on your PC, you can connect the same video source and the different applications you want to use to the Splitcam virtual capture system.
The operation is quite simple and the options are numerous:
Selection of the video source which acts as the primary capture device;
Selection of the desired number of frames per second, from 5 to 30 (for example, 15 are ideal for a video conference)
Choice of video resolution for each application: 160x120, 320x240, 640x480, etc.
Ability to turn off video in temporarily unused applications in order to decrease the processor workload.
Capture photographic images for use as a video source in applications.
Basic photo editing functions prior to sending images to the application.
A software like SplitCam also allows you to insert a video (downloaded from the internet or recorded) while using messenger or any other messaging client that supports the webcam.
You can use Skype and Windows Live Messenger as video chat simultaneously with the same webcam, which is impossible without SplitCam.
Record yourself from the webcam always during a video conference or still broadcast the video of the TV tuner in video chat.
Still you can stream a tutorial to explain software visually to someone (see article on how to register the desktop)
Perhaps the most interesting function is to be able to transmit a static image, a recorded video or a slideshow on a messenger and show it to the person you are chatting with.
Still you can chat a video of a famous person pretending to be him or, worse, use an erotic movie and show it to the interlocutor of messenger (this seems to happen when a woman in chat tells you if you want to see her while undressing, but I don't know if it's true) ...
Apart from these unorthodox uses Splitcam is a very powerful and unique program, at least for free.
