Use Google Fonts writing on Windows and websites for more readable fonts

One of the most important software parts on a computer are fonts, that is, the types or families of characters that can be used to write on programs such as Word, Powerpoint or others.
On Windows many families of fonts are already included in the system and, for example, you can choose to write with the Times New Roman, Calibrì, Arial, Impact font to name a few.
Additional fonts can be purchased online or even downloaded for free from various sites indicated in the post "Download and install Fonts on Windows".
The best collection of fonts to use on Windows or Mac or even on its own website is provided by Google on its Google Web Fonts page.
Currently there are over 400 types of fonts that can be downloaded and installed on your PC or that can be incorporated into your site, free of charge. These fonts provided by Google are much nicer to read than standard fonts like Arial and Verdana and are also more readable, as they are fonts designed specifically for the web. In addition, all Google fonts are available under Open Font License and you can also use them in commercial projects without having to worry about licensing or copyright issues. Some font families are also optimized for printing, so that a written sheet consumes less ink.
To browse the Google font collection you can go to the Google Web Fonts website.
Fonts can be previewed in 3 ways by clicking on the buttons at the top of Word ( Sentence ), Sentence (sentence) and Paragraph (paragraph). They can also be filtered according to different characteristics selectable from the menu on the left side of the page.
To download Google fonts you must first select the ones you like by pressing the " Add to collection " button.
Once you have added some fonts to your collection, you can download them all together by pressing the " Download " button at the top right and then again on Download Font Families . What is downloaded is a .zip file to extract to a folder.
Each downloaded font is a .ttf file that can be installed on Windows by pressing on it twice or by pressing the right mouse button and then " install ". By opening a program such as Word or Powerpoint, in the font selection menu you can choose those installed as fonts.
If you want to download all at once, you can go to this page.

If you create a presentation or document written with Google Font and send it to someone else, if that person has never installed the font family used on the document, they will see the presentation differently. To save the Google font in the Word or Powerpoint file, press the Office key at the top left, access the options and, in the Save section, put the cross where it says: " Embed characters in files ". In this way, whoever receives the document created in a new font will read it as it was written.
If you want to use Google fonts for your website, you don't need to download them because they are hosted on google.com. Just include a few CSS (or JavaScript) lines in your web page to embed one or more of these characters as indicated in the guide.
