Use iPhone as a modem or wifi router

All smartphones have a function inside that allows them to share the internet data connection with other devices.
So, for example, if I have a mobile phone with an active 3G or 4G connection and a tablet without a SIM card, I can connect the tablet to the internet by creating a wifi connection from the smartphone, which becomes exactly like the home wifi modem / router.
This can be done with Samsung, Huawei, all Android phones and also with iPhones, although some limitation may arise from the telephone operator.
For example, Vodafone does not allow, for most subscriptions and rechargeable cards, to activate the "hotspot" function on the mobile phone and therefore share the connection with other computers or devices.
The conditions of the contract must therefore be checked if it does not work.
To use the iPhone as a modem or wifi router, you can follow this very simple wizard.
From the iPhone, go to Settings and tap on the Personal Hotspot option (the same option is also found in Settings> Mobile ).
From this screen you can activate the Personal Hotspot option and choose whether it must be available via bluetooth or only via wifi or USB .
We have already talked about these options, some time ago, in the guide on how to activate the Hotspot on iPhone (wifi or bluetooth) to navigate from pc or tablet .
If you activate the hotspot on Bluetooth, you can connect a device connected to our iPhone via Bluetooth to the internet, while activating it only on Wifi, the iPhone will act as a router or access point, which creates a wifi network with access to the internet and assigns IP addresses to all computers that connect.
The iPhone, thanks to this function, also works as a cable modem, so you can connect to the internet a computer via USB that certainly consumes less battery power.
To function as a modem, a data connection must be active on the iPhone.
The activation of the hotspot also disables any wifi connection on the iPhone.
The Wifi connection that is created by the personal Hotspot on the iPhone takes the name " iPhone of .. " and has an automatically generated password as its access key, visible on the options screen.
Touching it on iPhone you can change this password, perhaps to make it easier to communicate.
Devices connected to the iPhone Hotspot will be able to surf the internet using the active data connection on the phone, which presumably will be on consumption.
You must therefore be careful not to consume too much data, especially if you use the iPhone as a wifi router to connect a computer.
The connection via USB cable must be made using the charging cable, while for the bluetooth connection it is necessary to pair the iPhone with the computer or tablet to which the internet connection is shared.
Always remember to disable the Personal Hotspot option after using it, as it consumes a lot of battery.
