Transfer all emails from one Gmail account to another

We saw in another article how it is possible to change the Gmail address painlessly, without having to tell everyone about the change and continuing to receive emails from both the old and the new.
In this guide, however, we see a next step, how to transfer all the emails from a Gmail account to a new one, doing a real email migration in order to then leave the old account.
There may be thousands of important e-mails that you would like to keep if you change your mailing address, which you would like to keep and possibly continue to receive from the old address.
The good news is that Gmail makes it very easy to move emails from one Gmail account to another Gmail address or to another email account like Yahoo Mail or Outlook.com.

If you want to transfer all emails from one Gmail to another, to do this, you only need to activate the POP function in the old Gmail account .
POP (Post Office Protocol) is the protocol that retrieves all emails from a server and saves them on a client.
Enabling POP on Google Mail then gives the order to Gmail to recover e-mail messages (old and new) from the old account and transfer them to another account.
To activate the POP function in the old Gmail account, access it and then click the gear icon located in the upper right corner of the window.
Then go to Settings, click on the "Settings" tab and click on " Forwarding and POP / IMAP ".
In the various options, activate the one that says: Activate POP for all messages
As soon as you activate POP, a drop-down menu will appear to decide what to do " When messages are downloaded via POP "
You can save a copy of the old account, mark them as read, archive them or even delete them.
Once you have selected the desired option, click on " Save changes " at the bottom of the page.
As you will notice, there is also the possibility of using the " Activate POP for messages arriving from now on " option which will only send new e-mail messages to the new account and not those already received.
Then open the new Gmail account, open the Settings from the menu at the top right and click on the " Account and import " tab.
Click on the link " Add another email address you own " and in the window that opens write the old email address.
Follow the wizard by entering the password of the old Gmail account and adding it.
By default, if it's a transfer from Gmail to Gmail, you don't need to change anything
When adding an email account to Gmail, you will also be asked if you want to reply to emails received using your old or new email address.
This can be useful to be recognized by recipients accustomed to receiving our messages with the old address.
If you choose to do this, you will have to verify the old email address with a confirmation code.
The process of transferring and migrating all emails from one account to another may take some time depending on the number.
In addition, you can always click on the " Delete " button next to the account added in the " Account and import " section to stop receiving new messages from the old address.
If, on the other hand, you want to copy all the emails to a non-Gmail account, for example a Yahoo or Outlook.com or even Libero account, it is necessary, in the wizard to add a new address from the Account and import settings tab, specify the POP server address.
Depending on the mail service, the POP server changes and should be searched for in the account settings.
Another article on how to send and receive Hotmail and Yahoo Mail emails with mail clients lists the servers for Outlook.com and Yahoo Mail.
In the wizard, you must enable the Always use a secure connection (SSL) option.
