Turn off the fast screen with the PC power button

The PC power button is not only used to turn on the PC, but also to turn it off.
We have seen in the past that it is possible to turn off the PC with the power button without problems, debunking the myth that he would like to always turn off the PC using the Start menu option.
In Windows 10 it is also possible, after installing the Creators Update, to configure the on or off button to turn off the screen (instead of turning off the PC), which is particularly useful for those who have a laptop, for not being forced to use the function of suspending or closing the lid.
On a laptop you can get to this configuration directly from the battery button located near the clock, by right clicking on it to go to the energy saving options.
If you don't see the battery icon, find it by pressing the up arrow on the right side of the taskbar.
On desktop PCs, you must instead go to the Control Panel, make sure that the category view with large icons is active and click on Power Options .
In the Control Panel, click the "Change combination settings" link next to the selected one and then, in the next screen, go to Change advanced energy saving settings .
In the small pop-up window, press the + next to the " power and lid buttons " row.
As Power button operation it is now possible to choose the " screen off " setting which means to turn off the screen with the power off button.
In laptops it is also possible to differentiate the behavior of the on or off button by choosing what to do when pressed in case of power supply with battery only or when connected to the socket instead.
This option works with all screens in multi-monitor configurations.
Once confirmed, try now and the computer shutdown button will work to turn off the screen, without sending the computer to sleep or hibernate.
Simply press any key to instantly turn it back on.
