Those who have never played Pokemon Go or Jurassic World Alive may feel disoriented by this Walking Dead game, very particular because it is based on augmented reality .
In practice, you play in the real world, in the streets of your home or in every area of the city, where you will see living dead from which you must not get close and exterminate as soon as possible.
In The Walking Dead: Our World, therefore, you must complete missions by moving in the real world, alone or in a group, leveling up, collecting and updating the weapon and hero cards to face the most difficult challenges.
To do this, the dead must be eliminated by touching any of the icons scattered on the map within the local area.
Obviously these will regenerate over time because, as experts know, the undead will never stop arriving.
Walking Dead is a first person shooter game where you have to shoot the zombies you meet in the head or use grenades for the flocks of living dead.
Usually normal zombies will be found, but some will be leaner and faster, while others will be dressed in riot gear, making them difficult to knock down.
Completing the activities will discharge the energy meter, shown in the upper left part of the screen.
Energy recharges over time to play again and, obviously, if you don't want to wait, you can buy more energy with gold (the game's premium currency) or get free energy by pillaging the supply crates scattered on the map.
At the beginning there are only a few missions, including battles against marauders.
Other missions will unlock by leveling up and you can make new encounters, rescue someone or disinfest places from the undead.
The latter are the most difficult missions, which give new cards, updates and experience.
When you complete a rescue mission, you can get help from the survivor who will remain in our company until he finds a safe home.
Finding a safe place for survivors is not that simple, since the buildings in our world are all user-generated.
There are four types of buildings in our world, each of which rewards coins for updating cards:
The types of buildings to be built are:
- Armory (10 tokens) - weapon cards
- Shelter (10 Shelter tokens) - hero cards
- Trading Post (10 Trading Tokens) - coins
- Warehouse (10 warehouse tokens) - perk cards
Once you have collected the necessary tokens through the cleaning missions, you can place a building in a free spot on the map.
Ideally, construction should begin in an occupied area where other players can contribute to the construction level.
The person who initially places the building is set as the founder and will receive an increase in tokens for each new level.
Likewise, the leader is the player who saved most of the survivors and will also receive bonus coins.
Card types, how to get epic and legendary cards
The three types of cards in The Walking Dead: Our World are the weapon cards you can use to take out the walking dead, the Hero cards that bring companions into battle with you, and the benefit cards.
The cards are colored white if they are common, blue if they are rare, purple if they are epic and gold if they are legendary cards.
Gold and purple cards are clearly difficult to find.
Many of the heroic characters of the show are present in the game in more rarities, for example at the moment there are two versions of the main protagonist of the series Rick Grimes (epic and legendary) and Daryl Dixon (rare and legendary) with the crossbow.
Updating the card statistics will level them up, unlocking talents and strengths.
Talents are unlocked via disposable talent cards while strengths are innate abilities that make a weapon or hero stronger against certain types of zombies.
The best strategy is to not spend too many coins to update community cards and instead look for the rarest and best cards.
Join a group
Being part of a group is essential in The Walking Dead: Our World to find legendary cards.
Groups can contain up to 25 players and there is no need to ask for permission, you can join any group opened from the social menu or a specific group using the search bar.
To join a blocked group, however, you must wait for the approval of the leader of that group.
The main advantage of being in a group, apart from chatting with others to develop strategies, is the ability to complete challenges with a collaborative goal for the whole group. All players can then claim prizes for each completed challenge.
To get the best rewards, you have to reach higher levels.
Using rockets, it is possible to summon members of a group so that they can go directly to their current position without moving to the real world.
Getting to the champions and final levels will require a good amount of time and effort (and potentially money disbursements) from each member of the team.
The Walking Dead: Our World can be downloaded for free on iPhone and Android
