Choose the function of the Fn keys on the keyboards of the laptops

On laptops, notebooks or netbooks, the function keys (F1, F2, F3 etc.) have a dual use: the classic one linked to the Windows operating system and the one to act on some specific functions of the laptop. To activate the second type of use, keep the special key Fn pressed .
On most laptop keyboards, the actions possible with the Fn key are written in small blue at the corner of the keys. Since notebook keyboards are compressed due to portability and size, the missing numeric keypad is incorporated in the center and can be activated using the Fn key. The vast majority of users who work on laptops do not use the Fn key, either because it is not too comfortable or because it is a bit hidden.
Through the free program KeyTweak you can change the behavior of the Fn keys, remap the special buttons included in the multimedia keyboards and you can also change the way you use them, without having to simultaneously press the Fn keys and the Fx key.
KeyTweak is able to remap all function keys fa F1 to F12. By default, the actions associated with the Fn keys with SfunKey can be activated by pressing the Function key twice .
Except the F12 key, usually reserved for system functions, with KeyTweak it is possible to map from F1 to F11 by setting that, with a double press, you can: adjust the screen brightness, adjust the volume, use the multimedia controls of the MP3 player, lock the PC, put the computer in Sleep mode, connect to a projector, open the task manager and turn off the sounds (mute).
Whenever you double-press one of the function keys, a message appears on the screen so you know what you are doing.
Using the settings of the KeyTweak application, you can choose not to display this message on the screen (OSD) and to exclude some programs (such as video games). Keep in mind, however, that this tool adds functions to the function keys and does not act directly on the keyboard (and therefore on Fn) therefore, if wifi activation is configured, it will continue to function with the pressure of Fn.
KeyTweak can be downloaded from the Softpedia website and works on all versions of Windows, from Windows 7 and Windows 10.
In another article all the main functions of the F1, F2, F3 ... F12 keys are explained while in another post some programs to remap all the keys of the keyboard are reported.
