It seems that everyone now points to virtual reality as the next step in technological evolution and incredible apps are spreading to be enjoyed with modern 3D viewers (such as the Google Cardboard), now cheap. Google, which together with Facebook strongly believes in this technology, has released a new experimental app to create virtual reality and easily share it .
By virtual reality we mean, in fact, in addition to the viewer, what you see using, for example, the Street View app, where you can turn the streets at 360 degrees.
The only difference is that instead of turning with your finger and looking at the fixed screen, in virtual reality you move moving with your whole body, as if you were really in one place.
Google's new Sprayscape application for Android smartphones makes creating VR images super easy by simply following the camera guide.
A bit like the panoramic spherical photos, even in this Sprayscrape you start taking a photo in the marked corner, then move and take other shots by turning until you return to the initial position.
Sprayscape, however, instead of tying the shots in a regular and spherical way, guides the user to shoot in random angles.
Ideally, this app should be tried inside a church or a monument, but it is also good at home, in your room.
Sprayscape uses the phone's gyroscope to help capture the surrounding environment, framing only part of the scene, giving a blurred vision of what is around, with the feeling of really being in that place.
In practice, he makes no attempt to realistically join several images together, reads the data from the gyroscope to determine positioning, but does not use algorithms to bind the images.
The app therefore remains very fast and immediate in its processing.
In the end, the result, which is certainly fun and in some cases amazing, can be shared by sending a link on Facebook or with Google, so as to show others a place as if they were there, using a 3D viewer or even without.
