Download email attachments from Outlook, Gmail, Thunderbird and others

There may be a need to download all the attached files of the received emails, perhaps to organize the images and documents that had remained attached to the messages received in the email box.
You can download attachments to your computer and save them as normal files, extracting them from the emails in which they were embedded but, to do this, you need to use an email client.
This operation is possible for any e-mail account, be it Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Libero, Alice and so on, whether you use a client such as Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird and also directly from the webmail site.
The possibility of downloading all the attachments in the e-mail messages has not been contemplated by any Email service and it is therefore necessary to use external programs.
For Gmail, you can download all attachments received via email using a plugin called Save Emails and Attachments which saves emails and attachments in Google Drive. This plugin, free with limitations, will open a Google sheet and requires permissions to be accepted to use the account data. You can activate the plugin from the Google sheet by going to Add-ons> Save Emails and Attachments> Create new rule .
Another free extension is Better download all attachments for Gmail, which is used to download all attached files.
The Find BigMail web application is used to find attachments and large files in Gmail .
With the classic programs to download e-mail there are no buttons that allow you to view and download all the attachments received over time. It is therefore necessary to install additional plugins that I found for Microsoft Outlook and for Mozilla Thunderbird.
To download attachments from Microsoft Outlook, however, you can download and install the Nirsoft OutlookAttachView program for free .
This is a portable tool that does not require installation, capable of scanning the profile on Microsoft Outlook to search for all attachments to Email . After scanning, the files are listed in a list from which you can select them and save them on your computer . This tool can be used to search for a specific attachment or to delete a large file that is taking up too much space.
Since it is the portable tool, it needs no installation and has the ability to search multiple Outlook profiles at once. If you have only one profile in Outlook and this profile does not require a password, you can run OutlookAttachView even without starting Microsoft Outlook. If not, you need to open Outlook with the profile you want to scan before starting OutlookAttachView. You can also export the entire list of attachments to a text file.
Another way to download attachments from Outlook, more recently, is to use a macro, mAttachmentSaver . After extracting the zip, from Outlook, press the Alt + F11 keys to start the VBA editor. Then press Ctrl + M and go to the folder just extracted. Select mAttachmentSaver.bas, Open, press Ctrl + S to save and close the VBA editor.
Back in Outlook, search for emails with attachments using the hasattachments: yes query, then press the Alt F8 keys together to open the Macros window and run ExecuteSaving .
For Mozilla Thunderbird, one of the best free email clients alternative to Outlook, the Attachment Extractor plugin must be installed instead.
In this case the procedure is slightly more laborious because you have to sort the messages according to whether or not they have the attachment and then you have to select all the Emails for which you want to download the attached file . After multiple selection of messages, you can right-click on one of them and click on the new menu item: ' Extract selected attachments '. This way you will no longer have to open the messages one by one to download the received attachment.
Obviously, to use an email client, you need to set up your account on the Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird program.
Remember, in this regard, that you must specify, in addition to the username and password, also the parameters called POP and SMTP.
For each account such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, Libero Mail and so on, in the configuration settings you will always find instructions for downloading mail to your computer with one of these programs, specifying the POP and SMTP addresses.
The free Mail Attachment downloader program allows you to download attachments from any email service such as Yahoo, Gmail, Virgilio, Libero, Outlook.com or any other . You just need to configure the POP / IMAP server to receive the email and then download the attachments to a folder on the PC.
