Clean up your Facebook profile and review your journal

Like all social networking sites, Facebook, which is the main of them, is made to get everything out of registered users and bring them to publish information that, in other cases, they would have communicated to the world only if they had been paid for.
Facebook is a really powerful tool that can be used productively for different purposes, but which requires some care in order not to become a problem.
A bit like a public bulletin board in a bar, it's important to clean up your Facebook profile or diary to get rid of old information, the news that would have been better not to share, funny photos but still not really to be shown to anyone and so Street.
The following are the main areas to focus on to clean up Facebook and the fastest ways to achieve this.
1) Profile
The first part of the diary to check is the profile information page which probably has not been updated for a long time.
Click on your name to see how others see us on Facebook and change the cover and profile photo if it is old or if you don't see the face well.
Keep in mind that the profile photo is the only image that cannot be hidden and made private.
Click the Information link to update the sections relating to education, work and basic information.
For all the various sections, the level of visibility can be customized during the modification phase by clicking on the symbol of the world or that of friends.
2) In the profile it would also be good to update tastes and interests in the Like section and indicate your favorite films, music, books and other things.
Click on the Like box and add or edit your favorites.
For every favorite thing, be it a movie or an artist, there is a fan page that can be visited and updated.

3) Photos represent the most delicate part to check, both because every person now publishes all the photos of each event in which he / she participates, and because even when he or she does not do it, friends think about it.
Since it becomes very easy to forget the photos uploaded, it is a good idea to make a review every now and then to check that there are no inconvenient or disliked things.
Then enter the photo section and delete the ones you no longer like, perhaps saving them on the computer first.
For the photos in which you are tagged, you can remove the tag with your name, this does not delete them but makes them practically impossible to find for anyone else and for the search engine.
Tag review can also be done in the activity log.
3) Pages
Facebook does not make it easy to see which pages have been subscribed or liked .
Then click on the profile, go to the Likes and then on the link " show other pages " located at the bottom, under the interests, (small).
A long list of pages that have been clicked on will be provided and it is therefore possible to review them to confirm or not the subscription.
Put the cursor on the name of a page, then move it on the I like box and click on the box where it says " I don't like it anymore ".
Since some may have changed their name or have been abandoned, it is advisable to be careful not to be a fan of pages praising political or illegal issues.
4) Groups
It's really easy to add people to groups on Facebook, without waiting for their approval.
From the groups section, therefore, invitations and annoying requests of all kinds are easily received.
It is therefore advisable to check which groups you are a member of and, if necessary, remove yourself from those who do not like and do not want to participate.
To see the groups, go to the Home and click on the word Groups, on the left sidebar.
From the list of groups, press on the pencil next to the name and leave the group, with optional option to automatically reject any future new invitation.
5) Applications
Apps and games are on the agenda on Facebook, and just click on a Like on a website or start a game to install one.
Over time many applications are installed on your Facebook profile and it is easy that some of them are now dead and no longer functional.
To be on the safe side, it's a good idea to remove those that are no longer used.
The application list is visible from the Account Settings menu (press on the wheel at the top right) and then, on the left sidebar, on Applications.
The list of applications you use can be expanded to show them all and, by pressing on the X, you can remove them.
Alternatively, you can click Modify and change the behavior of the application does and the privacy of notification actions that do not necessarily have to be public.
6) Friends
Friends are the very essence of Facebook and must always be added.
As I see it, you never refuse a friendship on Facebook and never delete a friend unless it is a deactivated or fake profile.
Important friends go to the close friends list while unimportant friends go to the acquaintances list.
Besides these two predefined groups it is possible to create new lists of friends in Facebook, as explained in another article.
Moving friends in the acquaintances list on Facebook hides their updates and allows you to block them from viewing specific profile elements.

Everything is summarized in the Facebook activity log page, where you can find all your past life and where you can make any note or action private.
As noted at the beginning of this article, social networking works only if you are willing to spend some time and effort in maintaining the profile which becomes an identity card to use to your advantage, without hiding it.
Cleaning the Facebook profile or diary regularly is the only way to guarantee control and avoid privacy traps.
