Get better performance for background programs or services (Windows)

Depending on the use of the computer, Windows allows you to choose how to use processor power so that it provides the best performance when running programs or for background processes that always run.
Windows automatically manages CPU usage so that it can manage multiple processes on a single single core processor and allocates resources differently depending on the choice made by the user.
The computer can then be optimized to run programs such as the browser, Word or the mail client or to keep background services such as printing, backup or other server applications active .
This way Windows knows how to distribute or allocate resources to best perform these tasks.
To make the choice, open a Run box by pressing the Windows-R keys (or from the Start menu), type the sysdm.cpl command and press Enter .
Then go to the Advanced tab of the System Properties and, under the Performance section, press the Settings button.
Go again to the Advanced tab and see the option of the Processor Schedule, to adjust it and obtain better performance for the Programs or for the background services .
To investigate the consequences of this change, it changes the DWORD value in the Win32PrioritySeparation registry key which is found in the registry keys following the path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ PriorityControl
To open the registry editor, in the Run box, type the regedit command.
This Win32PrioritySeparation key has the following values:
0x26 (decimal 38) for processor planning in favor of programs
0x18 (decimal 24) for Background services
If desired, you can also give a hexadecimal value lower than this registry key.
0 featured apps and equally responsive background apps
1 featured apps more responsive than background apps
2 Best response time of featured applications
After understanding all this, what the user has to do is just keep the default settings without making changes.
As for other options of the advanced tab of the Performance section of the System Properties, I remember in another article how to set up virtual memory: setting up the paging file .
