Better a custom PC or a ready-made and assembled one?

An old computer debate is what sees supporters of pre-assembled desktop PCs on the one hand, those who buy themselves complete with everything ready for use, while on the other hand those who make their own computers, mounting the various pieces purchased separately.
Obviously both methods can lead to buying a satisfactory product, albeit with many advantages or disadvantages depending on the side you look at.
In this article we go to see why it would generally be better to buy a customized desktop PC than a pre-assembled and ready one, even if this is not always true.
Laptops are excluded from this discussion, if they are bought to be carried around or to have less space (otherwise they are still part of the discussion).

As you will notice, the best-selling is a PC assembled with 8 GB of RAM and 1 Terabyte hard disk and 64-bit Windows 10 already installed, which costs just 220 Euros.
In addition to costing relatively little, pre-installed PCs also have their own guarantee, which means that, in the event of a problem with any internal hardware component, it is possible to have it repaired, in theory, for free.
Of course there is also to say that using the warranty on a PC is always quite complicated, because it must be sent to the manufacturer who can keep it for a couple of months, but can still give a minimum of peace of mind to those who are less experienced.
However, on pre-installed PCs there may also be technical support in the form of online guides and specialized forums (although often in English).
Obviously, in the face of this economic saving and ease of purchase, the problem with pre-assembled and ready PCs is their quality which can be absolutely not up to par.
Pre-installed PCs almost always have at least one low-level hardware component that pulls down the performance of everyone else.
So here on a pre-assembled desktop PC the video card will be of a very low level and will almost always be equipped with a slow hard disk instead of a fast SSD.
We said that if the goal is to have a computer just to surf the internet, everything can be fine, but what if you want to do something more?
Another possible flaw of the pre-assembled PCs is that they are more difficult to modify and update .
Adding new RAM or a disk on a PC prepared by the seller can be impossible or in any case very difficult or it can void the warranty.
Adding hardware on this type of PC could overload the power supply, which is another often poor quality component or with just enough capacity for the hardware mounted.
The advantage of a customized PC is that of being able to freely choose the various pieces, buying the best of the moment for each price category, without going on old and almost out of production pieces.
You can therefore build a perfect PC by buying the pieces on Amazon or other online stores, taking advantage of promotions and opportunities of all kinds.
This flexibility allows you to replace or add new parts over time and, therefore, not necessarily buying the top immediately.
For example, I have a computer from 10 years ago to which I have changed almost all the pieces over time, except motherboard (which is the body of the computer) and processor (because no new processor is compatible with such an old motherboard).
By buying a level video card, I was able to start heavy graphics programs and play some latest generation games, without any performance problems.
With custom PCs, if we talk about equal performance, you certainly spend less, even if it depends on which type of configuration you prefer.
You can therefore assemble a mid-level PC with only 300 Euros, buy parts for a high-level assembled PC from 600 Euros or it is also possible to have the most powerful PC with the best components, if you have no spending limits.
As seen in the guide to assembling the pieces of a PC, it is no longer complicated to assemble an Ikea furniture, the important thing is to always have the instructions in hand and know what is inside a computer.
