Quicktime is a historical Apple program that allows you to watch videos on your computer and on the internet. Although it has never been a software loved by people, also because it was very limited, in the past it was included in installations of much more important programs such as iTunes.
It is therefore very probable, if we have a not too recent Windows PC where we have iTunes, which is also present, among the installed programs, Quicktime.
Then go to the Control Panel, click on the list of programs to uninstall and check: if there is Apple's QuickTime, remove it immediately without thinking about it because in addition to being useless it has also become a dangerous and vulnerable program to attack hackers and viruses.
For the latest version of Quicktime, the 7.7.9 released in January 2016, two important vulnerabilities have been found by the company Trend Micro
Both vulnerabilities allow attackers to remotely execute code by infecting computers and causing their users to visit web pages with malware and malicious files.
The discovery of vulnerabilities is quite normal for almost any software, but, according to Trend Micro, Quicktime for Windows has been deprecated by Apple and will no longer be updated.
For those who have Quicktime as a program installed on the computer (presumably on Windows 7 since on Windows 8 and Windows 10 it has not worked for some time) the time has come to remove it forever and replace it with something else if it was still used.
Quicktime for Mac is still fully supported.
To remove Quicktime from Windows you can use the uninstall application utility located in the Control Panel.
In addition to Quicktime, it is also worth removing Apple Application Support and Apple Software Update, perhaps leaving only iTunes if it is needed to manage an iPhone or iPad from the PC.
After the uninstallation, I recommend a scan for the junk files with Ccleaner in order to remove all traces.
