For this reason, in every Android phone and iPhone, audio messages, voice assistants and the possibility of being able to write SMS, messages or notes dictating them by voice were born, through the function of speech recognition and synthesis .
It is therefore possible to dictate on the phone, verbally and in Italian, the text to be written in the app of messages or any other application, both on Android smartphones and tablets and on iPhone and iPad.

Dictate verbally on Android
To use voice dictation on Android you can open any application where you can write and make the keyboard appear.
In each keyboard you can find the microphone icon which can be a direct button or half hidden in the button next to the left of the space, to be kept pressed to activate the dictation.
Android will insert the spoken words by writing them correctly.
Voice dictation works best by installing the Google GBoard keyboard which is already included in many phones.
The configuration is already active by default, although it may be necessary to add Italian to the recognized languages.
To do this, go to Settings -> Language and input (or Settings> System> Language and input ) and touch GBoard.
Then go to the voice typing settings to select the supported languages and add Italian.
GBoard works well even if the mobile phone is not connected to the internet by downloading the language pack.
In the settings, then, touch the voice relating to offline voice recognition and download the Italian package.
To download it, go to Everything, find the Italian and proceed with the download which is about 20 Mega.
The voice dictation in Android with GBoard recognizes, in Italian, punctuation to write the comma or the question mark verbally.
However, there is no voice command to go back and delete a word.
Obviously, under dictation, writing can have several errors to check and one must always try to speak by articulating words.

Dictate verbally on iPhone and iPad
Dictation on the iPhone is just as simple as on Android.
On an iPhone or iPad you can dictate an SMS or a message by making the keyboard appear and then touching the microphone icon on the left of the space bar.
On iPhone 6s or later, iPhone SE and iPad Pro, voice recognition works even if the device is not connected to the internet.
Punctuation is not entered automatically, but is recognized.
You can then write " Hello, how are you"> Hello comma how are you question mark ".
You can then write the quotes, the exclamation point, the dot, the question mark and the colon.
To interrupt the dictation, you must press the keyboard key on the screen and you can then make corrections for any errors, even by selecting individual words and re-entering them.
During the dictation the spoken words will be written on the screen.
The activation of voice dictation is already set, but it can be configured by going to Settings> General> Keyboard where you can activate the Enable Dictation option.
If you are not satisfied, you can still install GBoard on iPhone and therefore improve the quality of voice recognition, which Google certainly makes superior.
