TIM is certainly among the best operators we can focus on, since it takes in practically any municipality and it is possible to take advantage of fast lines, very competent assistance and in general a high quality level (which goes hand in hand with the prices, among the taller). 1) Advantages of TIM
The point in favor of TIM, the most important considering that the various tariffs are more or less the same for everyone, is the advantage deriving from the fact that Telecom owns most of the telephone lines available in Italy, therefore it is present everywhere : if we do not live in a large urban center, most likely it will only take TIM as an operator to be signed. This advantage guarantees greater line stability and timely technical assistance that others do not have, given that in the event of a malfunction, direct customer-supplier intervention will be obtained, while it is very likely that other operators in the area will turn to TIM for solve the problem. From our experiences in this regard, we can safely tell you that TIM prefers to solve the problems of its customers first, then possibly those of the other operators "for rent" on the TIM network.
TIM's fiber optic line arrives almost everywhere in FTTC mode, so we can get the highest speeds (even 100-200 mega per second) without having to change modems and without intervention to change the socket, all to the advantage of customers.

2) Disadvantages of TIM
Unfortunately there are also disadvantages when we choose to sign a contract with TIM: there are fixed costs (like TIM Expert, an expert always at your disposal) and often there are also subscription items that we hardly use (TIM Vision). Subscription prices are very high and restrictive constraints: to keep his customers dear, the new contracts provide for constraints lasting at least 4 years, which pose a serious problem in case of early cancellation: we will have to pay all the promotional cost, the costs of possible discounted and free activation and the modem, with really high exit figures (even more than 150 € to change operator).
Another little known thing about TIM is the blocking of the number, especially if assigned in VoIP: if we use an FTTC or FTTH line and we want to change operator, the telephone number in our possession will be blocked and therefore cannot be acquired by the new operator (we will have to force of things change number!).
3) ADSL TIM offer
The best offer for those who must sign up for a new subscription is TIM Super ADSL, often available with promotions; the offer page can be reached from here -> TIM Super ADSL .
With this offer we will pay € 35 per month for Internet and free calls, to be added as an additional option instead of TIM Vision and SmartHome. The Internet speed is up to 20 Mega in download and up to 1 Mega in upload (the real speed is on average about 7-8 Mega in download and 0.78 Mega in upload) on ADSL technology.
Below all the additional costs of the offer:
- The discount of 60 € for activations made online will be recognized on the invoice through 6 credits of 10 € including VAT, starting from the date of activation of the offer and up to the 6th month.

4) TIM fiber optic offers
For fiber optic offers we will have to distinguish the offer with FTTC technology (VDSL) and the offer with real optical fiber (FTTH).
For the offer in FTTC we can subscribe TIM Super Mega .
If we are lucky and we can have the fiber inside the house, the FTTH offer is called TIM Super Fiber .
Both offers cost € 30 per month for the first year, then the price will rise to € 35 per month.
Internet speed is highly variable based on technology: the Super Mega goes to 200 MB in download and 20 Mega in upload. The Super Fiber, however, goes to 1 GB of download speed and up to 100 Mega in upload. Speeds vary depending on the location of the house and where we are.
Unlimited voice calls or another service such as Smart Home or Tim Vision can be added to both offers for free.
5) TIM internet only offers
Finally, it is also possible to subscribe to an internet only subscription, without other services and without telephone calls, with an ADSL connection at 25 Euros per month, with activation and modem included. The offer, however, is limited to 200 GB of traffic per month.
6) TIM Flexy second home
TIM has also studied an economic offer to have internet in a second home, with an active connection only 2, 7 or 30 days a month, starting from 6 Euros up to 30 Euros. Obviously, once the month is over, you can cancel the subscription which therefore has a limited duration.
7) Conclusions
As a general opinion, TIM has the significant advantage of always being the owner of the telephone line in practically the whole country (other companies often rent it from TIM).
The assistance is very fast, especially thanks to its apps for Android and iPhone and thanks to the Twitter account which, to avoid bad publicity, immediately responds to every request.
The basic prices are in line with the other operators, even if there are too many hidden costs or service costs that we hardly use.
TIM has among the best technologies for optical fiber, it is absolutely advisable to take out a subscription if we have coverage for this type of technology.
Some offers also include a timed subscription for TIM Vision, one of the services to watch movies streaming on demand.
The offers with Sky I would avoid them as well as all the additional options that only raise the prices.
