Configure new iPad just bought

There is no moment of better euphoria (technologically speaking) than that of the opening of a new iPad, or, in the specific case of this moment, of an iPad Pro.
If the iPhone has many better alternatives, the iPad still remains the number one and, as seen in another article, the best tablet to buy.
After discarding it then, after 10 minutes of admiration and amazement for the quality of the plastic, the design and the screen, the time comes to turn it on and follow this small synthetic Navigaweb guide to the new iPad, not to be mistaken and immediately enter the magical world of iPad to make the most of it.
1) Initial settings
When you turn on the iPad for the first time, after selecting your language and country preferences, choose a Wi-Fi network to connect to and activate location services.
You are then asked to create a new account for iCloud (Apple's online backup service) or to access the existing iCloud account.
You can also ignore this request and start using the iPad right away.
When you receive a new iPad, you can configure it from scratch or restore data from a backup by synchronizing via iTunes by connecting the tablet to the PC or, more easily, using your iCloud.
Apple provides all the instructions to use iCloud (link) and to synchronize the device with iTunes (link).
This type of photo and address book recovery from iCloud also works to keep iPhone (if you already have one) and iPad synced.
In the initial configuration you can also activate the " Find my iPad " service to find the iPad on the geographical map of the icloud.com site in case it is lost or stolen (follow the guide for Find my iPhone that works the same way).
In the last initial configuration step it is also proposed to activate Siri, the voice assistant that is fun to use and also very useful and efficient.
2) Applications
Currently in the iPad there is the iOS 7 operating system which comes with a series of pre-installed services, including iWork and iLife, a collection of tools for working and communicating.
Then there are some basic applications already installed: Safari to surf the internet, the one to read e-mail, the alarm clock, the calculator and other basic apps, obviously not sufficient to make the most of the Apple tablet.
Then go to the iTunes Store app directly from the iPad and install what I consider the best free iPad apps .
Among these are:
- Google Maps, clearly better than Apple's good maps application, which is already on the iPad.
- Twitter, really fun to use on an iPad, much better than on a normal computer, to follow the updated news at all times and to follow the discussions on TV programs, Talk Shows, Football and politics.
- YouTube, not included in the iPad but installable as an application to watch non-stop videos.
- Skype, to call from the iPad.
- Amazon Kindle App to read Ebooks and make iPad an electronic book reader.
- TeamViewer to connect remotely to your Windows PC and control it from the iPad.
In addition to these essential apps it is also worth discovering the things that the iPad does better than the computer
3) Optimization
After installing a few applications, it's time to configure the settings of iOS7 to optimize the iPad at best.
Most of the default settings are fine, but if you plan on using the device as a family, it is better to customize some options.
In particular, if the iPad will also be used by a child, it is better to set limited access in the settings generated by choosing various restrictions and limiting access in Settings -> General -> Accessibility
It is also important to optimize the battery life, to obtain maximum autonomy.
In the Control Center, accessible by sliding your finger from the bottom on the screen, lower the brightness.
In the general settings, then disable the background updates of the applications and, in privacy, disable the location services by stopping the GPS.
The settings menu -> accessibility has powerful options to better use the iPad with VoiceOver to listen to the reading of the screen by voice, the Zoom to enlarge anything, White on black, Mono audio for those who feel bad and dictation by voice .
4) Custody
A mandatory expense for those who have a new iPad is the case, not only to protect the screen and the body from bumps and scratches, but also to be able to use the tablet on a table so that it stands up on its own.
The iPad cases are of three distinct categories: the beautiful ones, the robust ones and the useful ones.
One that has all three of these characteristics would certainly be ideal, but it can also cost a lot.
In addition to the basic cases, if you can spend 100 Euros, a case with an external keyboard would be excellent, to use the tablet almost like a laptop.
Just to give some examples of high-level keyboard cases, you can look at that of Logitech.
The cheaper and classic ones can be bought on Amazon for 20 Euros or more.
If you have just opened your new iPad and are trying not to get lost in the thousands of instructions and articles that are around, these tips should be more than enough to use this tablet with satisfaction.
