1) Organization of important and unread messages
First, we already know all about Gmail's priority mail.
Gmail more or less intelligently marks received messages considered important with a division of the inbox into tabs and categories, such as updates, promotions and social networks.
This style of visualization can also be changed with a perhaps more efficient one, having the unread messages in the head, those considered as priority immediately below and then those of the other categories.
Then go to Settings by pressing the gear wheel at the top right, move to the Inbox section.
Then select, in the first multiple choice drop-down menu, the Priority Mail option and then divide the sections as important and unread, Specials and everything else, leaving the other sections empty.
Finally, press the " Save changes " button at the bottom of the page.
Go to your inbox and see how the change is reflected in the message list, divided into three sections.
Now it is also convenient to limit the messages of each section to 10 messages (by pressing on the down arrow next to the counter on the right) and setting the vertical display (if you have a wider than long screen) by pressing the down arrow by pressing the button with 4 lines at the top right.

2) Markers of importance to know if the email is personal or not.
Gmail is able to do a job of distinguishing incoming messages very useful to know if a message is sent to us or if it is a message sent to many addresses including ours.
In Settings -> Inbox, there is the section relating to importance markers that can be activated or not.
Note, in the importance indicator next to the messages, whether yellow or not colored, it can have two ">>" to indicate that the mail is sent only to us and the indicator ">" if the message has been sent to a list of addresses.
3) Desktop notifications for unread messages
You can receive notifications on your desktop every time you receive a new message in Gmail as it would happen using a client installed on your computer.
In the Settings, scroll down to find the desktop notifications option and select if you prefer to receive notifications only for important messages or for all your inbox.
From now on every new message will show a warning in the bottom right corner.
Note: If you use Chrome, you can also install the Checker Plus extension for Gmail to always know how many unread messages are on an icon in the upper right corner.
3) Use of the stars
Normally, when adding a star next to messages to distinguish them from others, the yellow star is used.
In the settings you can also choose to use a set of stars with different colors or symbols in order to better distinguish the messages.
The most efficient profile is the 4-star one and not the one with all the stars that become impractical.
To use the stars, press on the star sign next to the email. and click several times to choose the suitable symbol.
4) Eliminate junk mail automatically
Gmail has an excellent antispam filter to filter emails based on the address of the person sending it and to put emails received from mailing lists in the promotions or updates category.
However, you can make sure that the message from a specific address is automatically deleted using filters.
Then select the email that you no longer wish to receive, click on the " Other " button at the top, select " Filter messages like this ".
From the box, click on " Create filter with this search " and then select " delete ".
As seen in another article, ordering incoming mail with filters and aliases in Gmail to manage received emails is essential to use Gmail effectively.
