How to watch TV on iPad

We are traveling and we want to watch some television to fight boredom "> all the methods to watch TV on iPad through some free apps and, in the last chapter, how to use a small adapter for typing on the ground. Obviously to be able to take advantage of the apps indicated and watch TV channels on iPad, we recommend you connect to the Internet via a Wi-Fi hotspot or get a good offer for mobile data, so as to be able to cover the high data consumption that can accompany the use of TV apps.
If we are abroad (in the European Union), we can use a VPN app to obtain an Italian IP address and still view Italian TV channels.

How to watch TV on iPad

Below we will report only the methods that allow you to view digital terrestrial channels, so you can replicate the operation of a classic TV.

TV streaming app

The first effective method to watch TV channels on iPad is to install the official apps of the RAI, Mediaset and other channels, so that you can watch every broadcast live using the Internet connection.

The apps that we can install on our iPad are:
  1. RaiPlay
  2. RaiPlay Yoyo
  3. Mediaset Play
  4. dplay
  5. Cartoonito
Just start the app, access the Direct or Live TV section and select the channel we intend to view live. Access to streaming content is free on all apps, but free accounts may be required in order to continue viewing without limits.
Other apps to view live streaming can be viewed in our guide on Apps to watch TV on your mobile phone .

Websites of broadcasters

If we don't want to install any app or we don't find the channel we are looking for on the ones recommended in the previous chapter, we can use the web browser integrated in the iPad and start the direct streaming directly from it.

We open the iPad browser and, in the address bar at the top, enter one of the following web addresses:
  1. //www.raiplay.it/dirette/
  2. //www.mediasetplay.mediaset.it/diretta
  3. //www.la7.it/dirette-tv
  4. //www.paramountnetwork.it/diretta-tv
  5. //www.paramountnetwork.it/diretta-tv/duizzp/spike
  6. //tv8.it/streaming.html
  7. //www.cielotv.it/streaming.html
  8. //www.tv2000.it/live/
  9. //www.alice.tv/diretta-programmazione-tv
Once the website of our interest has been opened, the live broadcast of the channel will start automatically; if there are multiple channels, just select the one you want to start streaming. Also in this case the live broadcasts are free on all sites, but some may request access with a free account in order to view the contents without time limits.
If we want to save the websites directly on the iPad home, we visit the live page, we press the share button (the arrow inside the square, present at the top right) and we press on Add to Home from the menu that we will see. In this way we will be able to immediately access the live streaming site by tapping on the relative icon that we will create on the iPad home, so that we can speed up access to our favorite channels.
To find other useful links for streaming TV channels, we recommend you read our guide Watch TV on PC: all online channels .

App to manage IPTV lists

If we have an IPTV list that includes digital terrestrial channels, we can view it on our iPad by installing the free GSE SMART IPTV app.

To use it, simply insert the link of the IPTV list in our possession (usually in M3U8 format), wait for the upload and select, in the list of channels that will open, the TV channel that we want to view on our iPad.
To learn more, we recommend you read our guide on how to load IPTV lists to see on Smart TV, Android Box, Chromecast etc.

IPad adapter for digital terrestrial

If we are in Italy and we want to avoid consuming our data offer to watch TV channels, we can use a digital terrestrial adapter on our iPad, such as the Geniatech MyGica WiTV (€ 29).

With this device we will be able to see the channels transmitted by digital terrestrial without using the Internet but using the signal over the air transmitted with traditional antennas: in fact, it will be sufficient to extract the small antenna provided, turn on the device, connect via Bluetooth to the iPad and use the appropriate app WiTV Viewer to search for TV channels and view them on the screen. To obtain the best possible signal, we invite you to scan the channels outdoors or near a window, so that you can capture as many channels as possible. Thanks to the included battery we do not need dedicated power outlets and we can also connect it to the home antenna, so as to view the TV channels on the iPad when we are close enough to take advantage of the device's Bluetooth.

Conclusions

What we have shown you are all the known methods to be able to watch TV on iPad at the highest quality and for free . We can both take advantage of the apps of the TV stations and the web browser, while for those who have an IPTV list they can use it without problems even on the Apple tablet. If we do not want to use our data connection to view digital terrestrial channels, we can always use the small DVB-T adapters, which allow you to view the signal transmitted over the air directly on the iPad even without Internet access.
If we want to see movies, TV series or sports events streamed on our iPad, we recommend you read our guides on the Apps to watch movies for free and in streaming and the Apps to watch football streaming live .
If then we can get a monitor with Chromecast connected, we can always transmit the live on the larger screen using Google Cast, as seen already in our guide on How to broadcast on TV from iPhone and iPad with Chromecast .
