Although it may seem strange, for many users with a Windows 10 PC updated with the latest update of the anniversary of August, it has become impossible to open files with MP4 format (today the most popular of video formats) that seem no longer supported by Windows 10 due to a disengagement from Microsoft in licensing with video formats. Although this may seem the most efficient way, in reality it is not the most advisable one as the KLite adds to the system a whole series of files which, officially, are not supported by Windows and which, potentially (even if it shouldn't), can lead to stability problems.
Much better, then, to install a single program that is able not only to open MP4 files, but also to play any video format whatever it is, therefore also AVI, FLV, MKV files etc.
The number one program in popularity, obviously free, is VLC Media Player, which is one of those few programs that must always be installed on any type of computer, not just Windows.
VLC correctly supports audio and video for all file formats and has no limitation of use.
The only possible flaw can be found from an aesthetic point of view, due to a somewhat minimalist and spartan interface.
If you prefer an adequate alternative, but with a more beautiful and simple interface to find all the options, the best program I believe remains PotPlayer today, which I put in the head in the list of the best programs to watch movies and videos on PC and which opens quietly MP4 files, in addition to any other format.
It is also worth mentioning, among the alternatives to VLC, programs like Media Player Classic, ugly but very powerful, and also KMPlayer and SMPlayer.
I remember that to open an MP4 file with the right program, you have to click on the file with the right mouse button, go to the Open with option and then click on Choose another App .
From the list, select the program to be made default.
