How to open RAW photos and images on Windows 10 and 7

If you take photos with a professional digital camera you will get images from the RAW format.
The RAW format is the uncompressed, superior quality digital file with greater control over image quality and more information.
RAW formats are practically the digital negatives of photos waiting to be developed.
To view RAW images on the Windows computer, you need the necessary software from the manufacturer of the camera used.
In fact, each camera takes photos in a particular format.
Finally, however, Microsoft has released a software package that includes the codecs of all or almost all RAW formats so that they can be opened and edited on Windows .
To view RAW images in Windows 10 you need to install the Raw Image Extension app.
After installation, you can view the previews and metadata of the RAW files directly in Windows File Explorer or view the images in the Photos app .
For Windows 7, the Microsoft Camera Codec Pack is still available which allows you to view RAW photo files from more than 120 cameras both in File Explorer, and with the native Windows 7 photo viewer, and with the Windows Live Photo program Gallery (or Windows Live Photo Gallery).
If you open the file in Photo Gallery, you can print the RAW image like any other photograph.
The Codec Pack works with multiple RAW formats (and also DNG) generated by 120 different SLR cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax, Leica, Minolta, Epson and Panasonic.
The Codec Pack to open and view RAW images on Windows should be downloaded immediately even if you can also wait to receive the download message of the codecs when necessary.
The installation of the codecs causes Windows to display the RAW files with preview in the windows, as is the case for all image files.
