Search for the treasure in Google Maps on the pirate map

Recent archaeological discoveries made in the Indian Ocean by the team that takes photos of Google Street View, have accidentally found an old treasure chest with a treasure map belonging to the notorious pirate, Captain William Kidd.
Apparently, Captain Kidd had buried his treasure around the world and marked the points where to find it on a map that had dispersed over time.
Now this map has been found by Google researchers, but it contains a variety of coded symbols that are not easily decipherable.
For this reason, the treasure map has been digitized and published online on Google Maps, so that everyone can contribute to the search for precious treasures and decipher these symbols.
All this is explained in a nice video that includes clear subtitles in all languages, including Italian.

This is the curious and elaborate April Fool that Google has organized for this 2013, with a special version of Google Maps, designed as a pirate map, which is very reminiscent of films like Pirates of the Caribbean or cartoons like One Piece (We remember in 2012 the fun 8-bit map of Google Maps).
The map can be explored and zoomed in search of indications, symbols, drawings and X-shaped crosses that indicate the place where the treasure is hidden.
The map can only be accessed on this day of April 1st, by going to Google Maps and clicking on the Treasure box at the top right or by directly opening this link //maps.google.com/?t=8 .
On the left side you can see, instead of the little man Street View, a telescope to enlarge the shots and see the landscape in black and white, as if you were looking at it from the lens of an old binoculars.
The treasure hunt is therefore open for everyone and you can search and discover some key places by scrolling and exploring it with your eyes, such as the X San Francisco bay and the Google headquarters in Montain View.
