Update Lumia to Windows 10 (from Windows Phone 8.1)

On Microsoft Lumia smartphones it is finally possible, from now, after a long trial period and also for older smartphones, to upgrade the Windows Phone 8.1 system to Windows 10 Mobile .
Windows 10 Mobile, as the official page of the Microsoft website writes, is an update that can be downloaded automatically to the phone by installing the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app.
However, this application is not available for every phone with Windows Mobile 8.1, but only, for now, for some models including the Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 640, 640XL, Lumia 730, 735, Lumia 830, 532, 535, 540, 635, 636, 638 and then Lumia 430 and 435 .
Other older models will probably not be updated to Windows 10 because, as Microsoft writes, they would not be able to operate the new operating system without having a negative impact on the smartphone's performance, so as not to risk that the older Lumia and less powerful become unusable or almost.
Those who have one of the Lumia models supported with Windows Mobile 8.1, can download and install the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor app.
Before upgrading to Windows 10 Mobile, make sure that your Lumia smartphone meets some important requirements:
- The smartphone has Windows Phone 8.1 as its operating system.
- The smartphone has enough space to download and update, at least 3 GB or more.
- The smartphone is connected to a wireless network and is charged as a battery, at least 80% before starting the update process.
For the rest, updating the smartphone from Windows Phone 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile should be a simple, automatic and direct experience.
From the Upgrade Advisor app, follow the wizard to activate the upgrade to Windows 10 and wait for the system installation files to download.
To follow the progress, you can go to Settings> Phone updates where the download completion percentage should be seen.
At the end, you can touch the button to install Windows 10, accept the conditions and wait for the phone to be restarted and reinstalled, without however deleting any data in memory.
This is excellent news for the few Windows Phone users (few compared to those who have an Android or iOS smartphone), who will be able to see their Lumia renew themselves and become very similar to PCs.
I honestly think it's a shame that the Windows system does not take off on smartphones and is so snubbed by sellers and people.
The hope now is that with the power and ease of use of Windows 10 every Lumia smartphone can be interesting and, above all, full of apps to install.
