8 worst accidents that happen to computers and how to prevent them

If you work with a computer, you have to accept the fact that it can have problems every now and then and it can break.
Knowing and knowing the ways in which a computer can break and the problems that may occur helps not only to prevent them, but also to prepare for these accidents in order to prevent them and that, even if tragic, they can be addressed and, perhaps, even repaired or solved in a short time and without spending too much money.
So here are 8 of the worst accidents that can happen to a computer, how to prepare for them and, if possible, try to solve and repair them
1) Laptop lost or stolen
For this type of accident, there would be very little to do, unless you had prepared in advance. Beyond the general recommendations of not leaving the laptop unattended, you can install a free anti-theft program with which you can trace its location (if lost) or delete the memory and all data (if it was stolen) or, even, use the webcam to take a photo of the thief and be able to trace his identity.
For example, a free program to find the stolen laptop is Prey, very effective and full of options.

2) Computer affected by virus or malware
Viruses, worms, Trojans and spyware are all malware, that is, malicious programs that can cause serious problems to a computer.
Just think of the worst of the current malware, Cryptolocker and Ransomware that take the PC hostage, which completely prevents you from using your PC to work.
On the topic of viruses in this blog there is an entire Security section with guides and articles on how to prevent viruses on your computer, protect yourself from internet viruses and how to remove malware and viruses.
3) The PC crashes continuously or does not start
There is nothing more irritating and frustrating than a computer that crashes and crashes at work.
If this often does, then there is really something to despair and what seemed like an isolated accident must instead be considered a serious problem of a computer actually broken or about to break. Most of the time the problem is of a software type, maybe the one to repair is the Windows system (or OSX in the case of a Mac), but perhaps there is a defective internal piece, very often the disk or RAM.
In this regard, we examined a case study as complete as possible in the article on why a computer freezes or does not start and on how to solve Windows problems if there are random and frequent freezes.
Usually it is necessary to understand if the problem comes from an installed program by starting Windows in safe mode and checking if the PC freezes. If everything goes well, then the problem is related to a program that starts automatically and you will have to try to find and uninstall it. If instead the crashes continue, then the problem is hardware, memory or perhaps the disk as appropriate.

4) The computer does not turn on
There is nothing worse than arriving at home or in the office, doing to turn on the computer like every day and failing.
This is the case in which not only the PC does not start, but it just does not react and does nothing, remaining absolutely defenseless as if it were dead.
In these cases it is necessary to check the electrical outlets and the monitor cables to see if there is only one problem of attacks (if you hear the fan spinning or if the computer keyboard turns on, then it is not dead). Usually, in these cases, there is a power problem and the power supply is broken. In other cases, the internal fan may be broken, effectively preventing the entire system from turning on. If it is a laptop, perhaps the battery is exhausted or damaged.

5) The computer goes very slowly
This is one of the most common problems of every computer and we have also explained why the computer becomes slower and slower over time.
Unfortunately, it all depends on how many programs are installed, the type of maintenance that is done on the PC, its old age and how full the disk is.
In other articles we have examined in detail the causes and solutions of a slow computer and the guide to computer maintenance.
6) The hard disk breaks
The hard disk is the slowest and least resistant piece of the computer over time. After a few years of use, you should prepare for a possible disk failure with a full backup to another disk.
The ideal is to create an image of the system so that you can restore it in case of problems, without losing any data.
In any case, for accidents of this type, we have seen, in a detailed guide, what to do if the computer hard disk is broken or damaged .
7) The internet connection does not work
A computer without internet today is an almost useless tool so if you turn on your PC and find that there is no connection, a little anger comes, especially if you wanted to look for something important. In many cases it is the fault of the supplier who may have malfunctions, or the fault is of our network infrastructure, due to a defect in the router or a bad configuration.
Sometimes you just need to restart the modem or better arrange the router to improve the reception of the wifi signal.
In other articles we have addressed many of these problems by talking about:

8) If the light suddenly goes away
One of the most dangerous accidents for a computer is the black out and when it suddenly turns off because there is no light, the chances of one of its pieces breaking are very high.
We talked about this in another article, about how you can break your computer when the light goes out or with power surges and how to prevent any such accident.
