10 functions of Internet Explorer to make it better

The reasons why Internet Explorer does not write much in technology blogs, compared to Chrome and Firefox, are at least three: that is not updated often, except for security reasons via the Windows Update, which does not yet have a number of extensions interesting that are worth writing and that is mainly used by those who do not read IT blogs, who find Internet Explorer as a pre-installed browser in Windows and use only that.
I really want to reevaluate this browser that experts and enthusiasts of the internet and computers snub in favor of Google Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
Internet Explorer in fact is not absolutely bad, indeed, in some ways, it is better than the competition (but with Windows 10 Internet Explorer has finished its cycle and is no longer updated).
In this post we see the 10 best functions, tricks or tips, to use it better and find out that, after all, it is also an excellent web browser .
Those who use Internet Explorer as their default browser and those who do not use it, would do well to know that:
1) Internet Explorer 11 (and 12) is the safest browser if properly configured .
Compared to other browsers, Internet Explorer has a powerful security system to protect your computer from harmful or dangerous sites made by two different features: Monitoring protection to prevent sites from collecting user data and smartscreen filter to block browsing on unsafe sites .
In another article, the complete guide on Internet Explorer security, protection from monitoring and the smartscreen filter and how to activate them.
2) Website Pin on the taskbar .
No other browser has the possibility, on Windows 7 and Windows 8 (there is internet explorer also in Windows 10), to save a favorite site as if it were a program to start on the taskbar.
To add a website to the bar, simply drag the tab title down and drop it on the bar.
You can then click the icon of the finned site to load it in a separate window.
Some websites like Facebook or Hotmail also contain special support for pinning functionality and the icon becomes interactive, showing, for example, unread Hotmail messages.
3) Internet Explorer is very fast disabling plugins and toolbars .
Unfortunately, many applications install add-ons on Internet Explorer that weigh down the browser by making it slower.
Fortunately, it is easy to disable them by clicking on the gear wheel at the top right and going into the management of add-ons .
In the list, it is shown which ones take longer to load giving the possibility to disable them.
Except Adobe Flash, all the others can be safely disabled.
4) Accelerators
Internet Explorer will not have Firefox and Chrome extensions but, using a very different approach, it includes light plugins called accelerators, which allow you to perform actions quickly, from the contextual menu that appears by pressing the right button on a page.
For example, you can send an Email with Hotmail or translate a page with Bing Translator.
These accelerators can be disabled in the add-ons management window.
You can find many comfortable accelerators on the Internet Explorer Addons gallery site.
5) Web Slice
In this same gallery of add-ons for Internet Explorer, you can find a lot of Webslice.
Webslices are similar to some Chrome extensions, which are added as buttons on the bookmarks bar.
When clicked, they show a small box with a small preview on the updates of the chosen website. a website
6) Blocking the preferred search engine
Some Windows programs, such as Babylon, try to change the default search engine to put your own and full of advertisements.
To block these intrusions, you can enter the management of add-ons and, in the search providers section, put a cross on the option that prevents programs from changing the search provider.
7) Reopen closed tabs
This which, only recently, can be done on Chrome and Firefox, has been possible, for some time now, on Internet Explorer in both version 8 and 9.
Right click on an open tab in IE and Reopen closed tab .
From the same menu you can also see all the tabs recently closed and choose to reopen them all together.
The only flaw is that if Internet Explorer is closed, this list disappears when it is reopened.
8) Surf privately with InPrivate Browsing
To enable browsing in private mode, click on the gear icon, select Security and then InPrivate Browsing .
This is the private browsing mode, without leaving traces in the browser history.
You can browse privately, knowing that other people who open IE later will not be able to see which websites they were looking at.
9) Suggestions sites
Internet Explorer may suggest websites that may be interesting, based on other websites visited previously.
To enable this feature, choose the gear icon, select the File menu and then enable Suggested Sites .
The Suggested Sites button appears on the bookmarks bar which must be activated by right clicking on the toolbar at the top.
Then try to see the suggested sites if you are visiting Navigaweb.net.
If you don't see the Suggested Sites button on the bookmarks bar, you can add it here.
10) Full Screen mode best and practical .
Full screen navigation can be activated by pressing F11 on the keyboard.
As described in a previous post, surfing with full-screen Internet Explorer works great.
On Internet Explorer you can also change many settings in the Internet Options window and also enable parental controls that allow you to block access to specific categories of websites.
