A smartphone can be used as a microphone, both for the computer and for any amplifier, stereo or recording system. In the absence of a microphone to be connected to the PC to use, for example, programs such as Skype, you can use your mobile phone as a microphone, in a very simple and automatic way thanks to some applications.
This is possible on Android smartphones and also on iPhones and Lumia Windows Phones
For Android smartphones there are two applications that make the phone work as a microphone, which work differently.
The first is WO Mic which only works to use the mobile phone as a microphone on a Windows PC .
The application can be downloaded for free and must be installed on Android.
On the Windows PC, on the other hand, the WO Mic client that creates the connection must be installed.
At this point, on the mobile phone application, you can set what type of connection to establish, whether via Wifi connection, via Bluetooth or via USB cable .
From the PC program, press the connect button and the phone will become the computer microphone.
You can try to see if it works by hearing your own voice on your PC's speakers.
You will notice, making several attempts, that the voice is good and without echo only if the connection is made via USB cable, otherwise, in Wifi, there will be an inevitable echo.
There is a premium version of the WU Mic app that offers better audio quality and free of advertisements, somewhat invasive in the free version.
The second application is called Microphone and, as mentioned, it works differently than WO MIC.
In this case, just connect the phone, with a male-male audio cable, to any stereo system to hear your voice, live, as if you were using a normal microphone.
Obviously this system also works for talking on the computer.
For iPhone there is a similar application, not free, which transforms the iPhone into a microphone to be used on any stereo recording or live broadcasting system (as well as on the computer).
Again, it takes an audio cable to use to connect the iPhone's audio output to the microphone input of your PC or stereo system.

For Windows Phone, the app that can be used is Real MicroPhone, which transforms the smartphone into a microphone for any amplifier.
