Hear TV sound (with FireTV) on Amazon Echo

Recently, it is possible to control take advantage of a new feature called Alexa Home Theater which allows you to listen to TV audio, via Fire TV, on the Amazon Echo speaker . If you have both devices (whose functions are increasingly integrated), you can therefore, for example, listen to music from Youtube from the Amazon speaker or hear the sound of a movie on TV on Netflix using the best sound quality of the Echo, which will be better depending on the Echo device you have. For example, with Echo Studio (the best of Echo speakers), you can listen to audio with the support of Dolby Atmos spatial sound, while you can get Dolby audio with a second or third generation Echo or Echo Plus.
Before connecting, you need to check that your Echo device and Fire TV are compatible with Alexa Home Theater . Precisely you need to have a Fire TV Stick 4K or 3rd generation models or a Fire TV Cube 1st and 2nd generation.
Compatible Echo devices are the Echo Dot (3rd generation), Echo 2nd and 3rd generation, Echo Plus, Echo Dot with clock and Echo Studio.
To connect between Echo and Fire TV and activate the Alexa Home Theater function, you must instead use the Alexa application on your smartphone and be sure that Fire TV and Echo are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and are logged in to the same Amazon account.
Then, in the Alexa app on your phone, tap on the Devices icon in the lower right corner, and then press the "+" icon at the top. Then tap on " Set up your sound system ", then tap " Home Theater " on the next screen.
On the next screen, choose the Fire TV and tap on Next to select which speaker the Fire TV should connect to. Here you can choose groups of speakers that have already been set up or the Amazon Echo device (or other supported speakers). Go further to give a name to the new system, otherwise called Alexa Home Theater, and finally assign a group to the Home Theater.
With this system you can configure a maximum of two Echo speakers, plus an Echo Sub.
On the screen of the TV to which the Fire TV is connected, at this point, you should see a message to confirm that the system is configured, with the possibility of trying it by pressing on the preview.
At this point, the audio from the Fire TV is played on the Echo and the volume buttons on the Fire TV remote control will govern the volume of the Echo device. This behavior can be changed in the Settings> Sounds and Display of the Fire TV. In this section you can also turn off the Dolby Digital Plus audio output.
To get back to hearing TV sound from Fire TV, you can turn off pairing from the Alexa app on your phone.
